Don't Call OnStar or CAA

Next time you lock your keys in the car, don't call OnStar or CAA.

Here is what you do: If someone has access to the spare remote at your home, call them on your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the phone. Your car will unlock.

I know what your thinking, this is total bs. I put it to the test, I tried it with 4 cars. Also, I was curious did it work via cellphone to cellphone or could a land line be used. Here are my results:

FORD FOCUS - CELLPHONE AND LAND LINE
INFINITI G35 - CELLPHONE
MERCEDES 4MATIC - DIDN'T WORK FOR EITHER
NISSAN MAXIMA - CELLPHONE AND LAND LINE

Can you guys also do the test, I wanna see what cars it works with and doesn't thank you!

  • pure bs. i don't even need to test it.

and what does this have to do with poker?
  • I second the BS motion.
Don't think that phones can carry frequencies that high.
If they could you would be able to hear them when you pressed the remote.
  • quick to say BS, but you haven'y tried it have you. Well, if you don't wanna test it out. Just YouTube Search it, there are tons of people that show you how its done!
  • I work in the industry. Have tried it on several models and several phones.

    Verdict - Pure BS

Well if it's on YouTube it must be true (sarcasm).

Just for kicks I watched the video and in part of it you can still see the car tire.

I prefer to check this on Snopes:

The vehicles that worked must have been within range of the FOB.
  • I am an idiot for not reading the post thoroughly.

Hence the reason for this edit....

Carry on, nothing to see here, move along, next topic please...

"So if you have QQ vs AA on a flop of Q75....."
  • I bet it is true. The internet doesn't lie. Besides who doesn't give their extra key fob to a friend who will always be at the ready with it in hand and their cell phone when you lock your keys in the car. Sheer genius.
  • well, they always give you 2 sets of keys!

just make sure you don't lock your phone in the car...

    heeeeeeeeeeeehawwwwwwww

Why would you lie. You didn't try it....
  • I could be wrong about this but don't car remotes work on a Radio Frequency? [I'm not well off enough to afford a car with a remote :)]...if so it would be impossible for anything to happen over the phone as RF can't transmit over the phone.

I read about this as a debunked urban legend like a month ago...not new...not real...

    Real BS

    You are right tekguy.
Car remotes transmit at about 400Mhz.
Cell phones can only transmit frequencies in the range that humans can hear (about 20Mhz).
