Good, Bad, or Ugly?

Hey all... a few hand histories.. I seem to fucking SUCK at cash games.

Seriously, I have bled out about $700 this month in cash games... WTF is going on? (AND I PLAY .25/.50!!!)

Assume no reads unless otherwise noted.

So, does everyone go broke here? Sure, board paired, yadda yadda, but ..?

HAND 1: Had position, maybe a loose call? we'll see.

This is just a bad beat / freaky hand.. and I'm kinda did and didn't overplay this one... Sklansky don't know s#it.

Villain will call with any piece of the board or any draw - pot odds be damned.

  • 1: If you're going to raise the flop make it a real raise. I'd generally prefer to just call but raising isn't really bad. I'd prboably go ahead and bet the turn now given that you decided to raise the flop and caught a semi-scary card for him. The river depends on the player, but just calling his river bet is an option if he's the predictable type. Raising less than all-in is really bad though wtf.

    2. I'd play it the same against the guy you described assuming he's the type to raise not call with a lot of worse hands on the flop.

    3. Run better (but well played).

    4. I'd give up on the turn. If you're going to bet it should be all-in. The river bet is really bad you gotta give up, especially on that card.
  • First hand:
    Three words...OUT OF POSITION

    Second hand:
You WANT this guy at all your tables! Tough one, but no fault

    Third hand:
    See hand two!

    Fourth hand:
    See hand two and three

The only really comment I can make is the first hand. Limping in was fine, but then calling another bet cold? Either raise or fold it here, you're in EP.

Sounds like you've been beating yourself up, but for the most part, it's just a bad run by the sounds of it. Go away for a spell, clear your head, and come back later.
  • Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

    Take a break dude

    /g2
  • You should warn us next time as to the amount of bad beat stories in your post, I had to choke back some ... well lets just leave it at that.

Go play some SNG's. mabye some heads up, that always makes me feel better.
  • I only read the first one...

    Mark, Mark, Mark....

Whats your handle on Poker Stars ..... :)
  • 1. Ugly like Cher's wardrobe.

    2. Not as ugly, but still pretty stinky. You married the AK.

    3. Bad beat. Brutal

    4. Another bad beat, but you had Ace high, and bet out the whole way. Slow down!
  • For a second I was waiting for me to show up in the hand history. Yesterday I experienced exactly what you had happen. AA all in vs A4 off suit (he was short stacked) to have the board go 2 3 4 6 5..... It's called variance. Take a break until after the RC.

If it was Mark, the other guy would have had A7.

  • Hand 1: the flop play is kinda sick, if you're going to raise you gotta lead on the turn... but as played on the river card i'm not folding.
Hand 2: against the player that you described there i'm definately going to the felt. but against a usual (and i use that lightly) player i think you can get away on the turn when they lead out for $20. i mean another thing to consider is this guy risking half his stack when he hits any piece?
Hand 3: sick, i'm definately going broke there every time.
Hand 4: i'd prolly be shutting down on the turn, or if you think you have to bet the turn bet more than $4.
  • Flop play hand 1 is fine given your position it allowed you to get a free card. Happened that the free card made your hand and screwed you at the same time. Your opponent played it fine. Welcome to poker.

Second hand would help to know more about opponent since at lower limits AK will beat AQ AJ type hands as well as various draw hands a ton of times there for stacks. Your opponent played a low suited connector for a minimal raise preflop and got paid off 50-1 when he hit. Go figure, that's why some people play those hands some times (including myself). He played it fine, you played it ok for the most part. Welcome to poker.

Same thing third hand, you played it fine he played it fine. Top pair/top kicker vs sets suck for pair guy but redraws are possible. You played it fine he played it generally fine. Welcome to poker.

Hand four I cannot think of what your goal is on the river with that bet other then hoping he has nothing and you are thus preventing him from bluffing. Both of you kind of played that hand badly, he got a lucky river, it happens. Welcome to poker.

None of the hands posted really stand out in any way other then the last one where the play was in general bad by everyone.
