My Worst Bad Beat (4 of k vs SF)

I love this hand! Don't think you can really fold in this situation. What are the odds?? At least it only cost me $5!

  • Runner-runner and he only has the 9c too. Brutal!

99.7% ahead on the flop, and 95% on the turn
    Tough one Jim.

    Johnnie
  • Wow, and he wanted to chase it too. Nasty. Tough hand, I wouldn't be able to fold it. Good thing you weren't playing on 2/4 or 5/10 table.

Now if this happened to have been on Party, you would just scored HUGE!!!
  • Although there wasn't much betting until the river anyhow. I was hoping they would catch up (straight and or flush) but not both. Still up on this table, even after this terrible luck.

Unless it qualified for a bad beat jackpot, then it'd be sweet!
  • Technically I am not certain that the opponent checking along with everyone else on the flop is indicative of "chasing." I would have called the min bet on the turn as well if I were him, he never had to make a bad choice post flop, which is something you do not want to allow in general (flopped quads obviously are a bit of an unusual situation where proper rules tend to not apply as much).

I guess the funny question to ask though is what hand did you truly hope he had by the river when the board had 8 10 J Q of clubs with 2 others will to go all in and raise/reraise. Not saying happily toss those quads away but I am trying to think of what the two opponennts can have there that you beat when you reraise again.

Kind of odd to imply that you played quads badly , but you kinda did :)

Edit: if this was on Party and I flopped quads that would qualify, then I would allow anyone and everyone to try to hit runner runner straight flushes as cheaply as possible to beat me for the Bad Beat Jackpot, although keep in mind they do need to use both hole cards for it to apply and it would not in this case, so I would likely bet the turn and hope someone had a made flush or boat.
  • It wouldn't have qualified after all. Must play BOTH of your hole cards in order to qualify for the Bad Beat Jackpot on Party.

    Oops
  • figured they had a flush ace high or full house; at 0.05/0.10 players call a lot of weird hands done to the river. Had a feeling the SF was hit but I was willing to take my chances.
  • this reminded me of this hand:

a little more money at stake but same kinda idea.

nice river; a lot of money to be chasing.
  • Cool, I've always wanted to see proof of these types of hands and here it is

I just got another cool bad beat. I dont care about the money it's just cool that I can actually say I lost to a 1.09% chance in an all in pre flop.
