Not just a novice acronymer, need other help!

My regular posts to find out what many of the given acronyms are, has undoubtedly shown my age or lack of brain power.
Now let me expose myself yet once again. (Editor's note: expose my ignorance)
When I am making a post, is there not a function that allows me to change the font and/or colour of the text in my messages
When vocabulary is limited, font and colour is my best hook for effect!

    Under "User CP", "Edit Options" go to the bottom and change miscellaneous options to use extra formatting controls, save changes....
