Why is it always Pokerstars?

!!!!NOT A BAD BEAT STORY DO NOT WORRY!!!!!
I just wonder why Pokerstars is always the bad beat haven on the net? I look at the infinity million bad beat stories on here, how many of them begin with
PokerStars Game #:
To be honest I think online Poker is valid, why would they ever need to rig the pots? Do live Casinos? No! Do the consistent winners consistently win? Yes! Shitty beats happen at all stakes, and Pokerstars makes money pending u win 1 million or lose 1 million and that basically keeps both worlds happy.

  • pokerstars has more bad beat stories than most other sites simply because more people play at stars. I took a bad beat the other day on full contact but who cares because there was 523 people there at the time compared to the biggies who have 20K or so.
  • The play is also much quicker at PS, thus you're going to see more hands, and with more hands comes more bad beats.

Trust me, I've taken plenty of hands prison style at Stars, Paradise, Supreme (Wes!), Fult Tilt, Titan, Pokerroom, Party, in live games, and playing HU against the dog.

If theres poker, theres a Bad Beat waiting to happen.

  • There is no question that Pokerstars has the most bad beats out there. I have seen a four card flush beat a flopped set more times than I have seen AA lose to 9-2 off suit... and that is alot!!

I find that most online poker rooms are the same though. Full Tilt is horrible too.

    My 2 cents...
  • kinda what I figured too, I've seen stuff like that in live games as well. A 1 outer is a 1 outer and is as possible as rolling a 1 on a 20 sided dice and most bad beat stories have some kind of flaw on the storytellers side like pushing w/a flopped straight on a 3 spade board or checking top set w/2 spades on board and 3-4 still left to act.

Another reason is that PokerStars slowrolls the cards as they come out so people realize they're taking bad beats. Party just throws them all out there real quick so a lot of people don't know what hit them. Anyway, anyone that whines that online poker is rigged is basically a retard.

  • Back in the good 'ol days, they'd say the same thing about partypoker..

    sigh.

I don't know if this is bad that I am falling into the same views as BBZ...

But I thought the exact same thing when I read the OP.

First, it is not rigged. It is poker. Cards have no memory and in the short term do not abide by any statistical rules.

Second, for the people who actually do think online is rigged... Why do you still play?
  • Cards have no memory

True. But don't forget that luck can be angry at you!
  • Luck only hates me it's the cards that are angry at me.
  • Ppl complain about suckouts at every site....everywhere i play, ppl tend to refer to the site as the river-(insert site name here). i.e. riverstars, riverroom, etc. "This site hands out so many friggin' bad beats, blah blah blah".....the comments are the same everywhere. Just make sound decisions, shrug your shoulders when you get a beat, and keep faith in the numbers...
  • I think that Pokerstars is the same as everywhere else. I do agree though that you hear more complaints about Pokerstars than any other online site. This would be due to the number of people that play there as opposed to other online sites. Since you have more people, it would then make sense that there would be more inexperienced players there. I also feel that there is the same chance for a bad beat online as there is live.

First of all, you will see many more hands per hour online, so you will actually have a higher number of bad beats but the ratio should still be the same.

Also you will have a lot more bad players online who will chase their draws right down to the river even when they are not getting the proper odds to do so. These are the ones that really piss me off, as I hate losing to somebody who hits a gutshot straight after giving him terrible odds to call. When the Forum had their Tuesday night tournaments on Pokerstars, the caliber of poker was much better then a normal online game so you would see more good folds and less people relying on a lucky draw, therefore less bad beats than normal.

Lastly, everyone thinks that they take more bad beats then anyone else. We often forget about the great draws we get and definitely focus on the bad ones. I watch a lot of poker on tv and even the pros lose a lot of hands on the river. When we lose a coin flip on the river we all like to think we have taken a bad beat. when actually it is not. Maybe when players are all in, all 5 cards should be turned over at once.. That way we won't feel so bad when we get hosed on the river.

If we didn't have bad beats to complain about, we wouldn't have anything to talk about at the table. I know Beanie, DrTyore, Poker Queen, Haddon etc. etc. etc. never have anything to say while they are playing. This just gives them a reason to break out of their shells.
