Poker Programs For Tracking

Hello All
Beautifull day here in sunny Alberta.
I have another question today and was hoping somebody could help me out.

Im looking for a Poker progarm that tracks my play, people seem to be talking about Poker Tracker and I was wondering if anybody here uses it and what they think about it?
Thanks

Wader

  • I'd strongly suggest trying out the free version of Poker Tracker yourself. It's actually same as the full version, but limited to a database size of 1,000 hands.

I have the full version of Poker Tracker myself, and find it incredibly useful.

It's probably not nearly as useful if you're exclusively a tournament player. It might be a little more useful if you're playing against the same players a lot, but this is probably not the case for SNG's (unless there is a limited player base).

I primarily use it for fish identification and tracking at cash games, and as an easy way to keep track of my results (hourly win rate, etc). "Here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in your first 30 minutes at the table, you forgot to start up your Poker Tracker software."

It is very useful for analysing opponents in real time, but once again, this would apply more to cash games instead of tournaments (where an opponent's style should change radically from round to round).

  • Can you analyze there play instantly, or do you do it after your session?

You can (and I do) analyse the opponents as you play.

I download the hand histories every few hands, and load them into the Poker Tracker database. You can set up Poker Tracker to do this for you automatically at regular intervals, but I find that it's easy enough to just do this manually. Various statistics on the opponents are automatically updated in something called the "Game Time" window. I find I can generally get a decent rough read on a low-limit cash game player after about 10 hands, and an extremely solid and reliable read after about 30 hands.

As for all_aces, we played $2-$4 for about 10 minutes once. I think I need a little more data to get a strong read on him. ;)
