Welcome Nova.

I'm a casual poker player, very casual. I mean I play live maybe once a month and online maybe once a week. But I really enjoy it. I've read a few books (Brunson's Super System was great) and now I'm looking for more reading material.
I'm from Calgary, but I work in Fort McMurray. It's easy to get a game going with some guys up here any night of the week, but when a guy puts in 12 or 14 hour days, he usually doesn't want to bother. Work, eat, sleep, get up, do it again is the norm.
I'm new here, obviously, but not new to forums. I'm a member of several Ducati forums, a couple of local motorcycle forums, as well as a couple of WoW forums. (In case you are wondering .. World of Warcraft ... and yes, I am a gheek at heart lol.)
So I've been searching around the site for the past couple days and just joined today. I've got some questions to ask that I couldn't find the answers to by searching, so I'll post more later!
Then i have questions concerning this forum too! Maybe it was not what i was looking for but I'm glad too! I have several questions..
1. The CPF bucks are only virtual right?
2. The more I post the more bucks I have, but how can I use it?
hmm, that's all I think.

Hey Katie, you don't happen to know xxcindyxx? I miss her.
Thanks for the invitation. I was one of the guests lurking around for a few weeks. I've been playing on a few of the online sites, usually as EEng91, for a few months. Mostly freeroll tournaments or play money. I'm not into poker to make money, I just enjoy the game. I occasionally play live games with a few friends but it's tough to get 6 people together on a regular basis with everyone just being so busy. With the nice weather I'm now competing with people who would rather be golfing so I don't expect to be playing much live poker for a while.
I'm hoping to learn more about strategy and possibly find some local live games (low stakes). I'm from Tavistock, which is about 25 minutes west of K-W, and I work in Stratford. In a few short months, I will be turning 40, which according to my kids makes me "old", but not as old as grandpa. I played poker for a few years in high school, then didn't play again until last year, so I'm a bit rusty. But I like to think I play poker better than I golf!
See you around the Forum.

My 2 cents!

I play online for at least 4 hours a day. I'd play more if I didn't have a full time Job. I've been playing for about 3 years now. I've played over 1 million poker hands online. I also play live games and tournaments. If I don't play poker at least once every 3 days, I become irritable and lock up like a recovering heroin addict.
I don't really go outside much anymore. My skin is pale and I gained about 30 pounds since I started playing because I used to enjoy jogging. But poker is more important to me now.
I haven't had a date in 2 years.
Thank you for your time. Feeling better about yourself now?

Post of the year, right here!! lol.
Welcome to all four new people. Check out the Home Games thread for games in your area (which is mostly dominated, at the moment, by games in Kitchener/Waterloo)
CPF buck can be used to get real money on Supreme Poker (there's a link around here somewhere) at an exchange rate of 200 points = $10. The more you post, the more you get.
Actually, that particular bonus is no longer valid. I think Sloth is setting up something with Solar Poker, but haven't heard back from him on that yet.
talk to you soon
How is the poker scene in Manitoba? Are there many casinos out there?
I'm 36, and LOVE poker, mostly Omaha hi/lo, but I enjoy Hold 'em as well. I play mostly a PS, but am looking for other great places to play. I live in Winnipeg. To answer the question about Casinos here: we have two government run casinos in town. I don't play "live" much, so I don't know about any other games out there.
Are there any poker sites out there that take PayPal as a form of payment? I'm really not jacked about putting my CC to use for online gambling.
Welcome to the site!
