Hand 5

Ok, this hand had me confused, I had no idea where I stood, played it like a fish, the end result is not what matters...I'm wondering the best way to figure out if I'm beat...I figured I was priced in to call down...or he could of just been reeling me in...I think I was lucky here? Should I raise the turn to figure out where I stand?

• Hand 1: An example of online vs. real life value betting

With a couple of limpers here, a $1 raise is normally decent in RL, but online, don't be afraid to go to $2 / $2.50.. you will get one or two callers (which is what you want). On the flop, again, just bet the pot... or $4 in your case (mine would have been $4 as well, but with less players).

I have recently been playing with a few ideas. I've been really good at betting EXACTLY the amount needed for them to make a mistake by calling - but this is when I realized that *I* was making a mistake - My job, as the person with the better hand, is to get them to put as much $ into the pot as I can, without making it right for them to do so. So instead of maybe 2/3rds the pot to take away odds and get the call, I bet the POT and get the call....

Turn, well, yea... an Ace out on the board sucks, and what's worse, you're OOP (out of posiition)... I would probably fire another bet on the turn, and see what he does... his flop call suggests a flush draw, let's just hope it wasn't something like A-8d

Hand 2: Have you been playing on "Supreme"?

PREFLOP

A: Why would you limp to a raiser PF? Especially when you'll be OOP all hand
B: Why would you limp AGAIN to a reraiser?!?!?

Raise it up... you will get called.

Flop: Just one unlikely straight possiblity out there (unless I'm in the hand), check is okay... but a small bet may have enticed action with two players

Turn: Boated up... I say check here and hope someone catches the running flush, but if you're going to bet, $3 into a pot that appears to be $5.25 isn't horrible.

Hand 3: This is what I was saying in hand 1!

Pre-flop: Just limping with A9o is fine by me.. though I'm likely to raise it

Flop: Nice floP! TPTK, nut flush draw... sweeeeeet. I may have re-popped it from 0.25 to $1 there, but a call is good too IMO

Turn / River: I think both of these are pretty good.. without knowing what wildcat plays like, it's hard to guesstimate the $ amount he'll donate with 2nd nut flush....

Hand 4: Guess things happen that way...

Well, it's pretty obvious how he got so low considering his starting hand requirements.... but basically it ends up being $3.45 into a pot of ~$8.25, or maybe what, 2.25:1? I think mathematically this is a mistake, but I'd probably do it too, thinking he's overplaying AJ / Ax (hopefully not x=board)

Hand 5: Oh those silly online players...

Pre-flop: Again, I like that raise live, but online, make it $1.50 / $2
Flop: F#@king Kings... Oh well, let's see where we are! A 1/2 pot bet is nice here - which is what you did
Turn: Another king? Hmmm... maybe I AM good!! :) I like the call for the 3:1 odds....
River: inconsequential card really... and calling $2 into a pot of $10 is a pretty easy call. Nice hand.
• I've only read the first 3 hands (I'm at work here).

Hand 1. Read Mark's post. I find for those blind levels a "standard" bet of $2 will get you the right action. Then bet the pot on the flop. The more I play the more a "pot" sized bet becomes almost unreadable if you do it consistantly. The one thing I do like doing after making "standard" raises is then to min raise and watch everyone fold. They all go your now min raising I'm getting out of here LOL.

Hand 2. Limping with KK OOP is bad bad bad. If you do limp then the BB raises and buddy calls I now hit them with a re raise. If they both fold you won the pot that you ended up with anyways.

Hand 3. Your limp is fine by me I may have raised but to each his own there. I wouldn't have called the post flop bet. I would have raised to $1 there and see what happens. With 3 spades on the board (yes you have the A) let's see what happens.

On the turn if he bets again, I raise again to see what happens, if he checks I bet out about 2/3 of the pot.

I like to keep the aggression on these guys at all times.

Hand 4 an 5 I'll read later and post.
• hey donk.ey... it is a lot easier to discuss hands one at a time. i'd post these as 5 separate threads so it is simple to follow the discussion.

hand 1 (without reading any of the other posts) - hanterio has about 10 bucks left in a pot with more than 10 bucks in it. what can we infer from his shortish stack? without any reads, i'd assume either a weak overall player or someone who stays with weak hands far too long. a guy who would play any ace or middle pair fits that bill.

he has called both of your strongish bets so far. i'd have a hard time putting him on an ace with certainty. i'd put out maybe $3 here. if he calls i'd check call the river. if he pushes here, i'd likely let it go.

Thanks for the posts guys, interesting comment at the end Greg, and kinda took this route, although still to passive a bet I think? I've posted the rest of hand 1 and will only post one at a time now :)

LOL, actually Tower Poker, another Poker Room skin, they had an excellent sign up bonus of $100, gotta play 750 hands.

Thanks for the comments Mark, and I agree about OL betting being different then RL...I'll have to keep that in mind and adjust, it's difficult coming from playing so much limit but I'm loving it. I also agree I played the Kings weak/passively, I think I was trying to slow play...and I neglected my position here, not the best approach I agree. I have to change that. Poker Office currently has me ranked as Tight~Passive pre-flop and Agressive post-flop...almost there!!!!
