does this piss you off

today
my big full run into quad,
my two pair run into sets (3 time)
my sets run into straight or flush
It happens, i got out play, couldn't of lay my hand down, it's my fault.
but...... this really piss me off.
1) when it seem so hard to pickup any pots, the very next hand, somebody win it with pair 2 or Q high (after your big fullhouse just got crack)
2) next flop suit perfectly for the hand you just lost previous hand.
3) after you just finish paying the big and small blind, you got transfer to pay big blind again (my record is 3 time in the roll, which cost me the tournment because the blind are 1k/2k, the third time, blind went up to 2k/4k. more then half of my stack is gone)
Does this piss you off, or what?

  • Frustrating as hell, yes. Pisses me off? Sometimes, yes, but I have come to learn that that is how it goes sometimes, and theres not a damn thing you can do about it.

It's important to remember that every time you're dealt two new hole cards, it's a completely different game. All the previous hands you have been dealt have no weight on the one you are now playing. Try to forget about the details in the previous hands, but try to remember the ACTIONS from them all.
  • I think Str82Ace summed it up well. One of the most important things to do is control you emotions. This is still a part of the game I"m working on. If you play poker enough you'll get bluffed out of pots you should win (or were winning). You'll watch the case card come out against you. You'll watch a completely dominated hand flop great. Get over it suck it up. Harder to do than it is to say. If you get pissed off it will affect your play later on and you'll bleed money.
  • Chuckie,

I find it almost as frustrating as trying to decipher one of your posts.

    Tell me, is that English?

Don't sweat it guy, If you're not from KW, you have to take your lumps at first like the rest of us. It's a good forum...keep posting!
  • Hey Chuckie...

I will admit that I have difficulty reading your posts, as I'm sure you have problems reading some of ours. Myself, I find your posts are excellent ones to start discussions, and appreciate your input. I hope that when I do reply to your threads, you do not have trouble understanding my english, as poor grammar, spelling, and slang can all be irritating.

As for your original post, believe me when I say I understand completely - though it happens to all of us, and there is little that can be said or done (unless you are playing badly), it still sucks.

    Good luck though!

  • i think a break is needed here.
i just got knock out on 90 player MTT
29 people left in the tournment
    Blind is 150/300 ante 25
donk is UTG raise to 600 with (8000 in stack)
I just Call with KSKC (I should of have reraise, but i want to make sure Ace doesn't come, common 5 card had been out to get me for last couple round) Maybe this is my mistake for not reraising, but i don't think he'll fold a AJ suited.
    Donky has 9200 in stack.
    all fold
    Flop is 2S5H9D
    UTG bet 900 <- I see as continuation/probe bet.
i raise to 1800<-Sort of Probe/trap bet. not too big, so he can call, and I can still get away from my kings, if i got reraised back to me.
UTG call<- I figure, he doesn't have small pair that turn into set. I put him on two over card.
    River 6S
UTG bet 3000<-, if i just call, he would have 3 to 1 pot odds, his bet is giving himself enough pot odds to chase that flush draw.
i raise him all-in, since I now put him on two over card plus flush draw, I do have the best hand now, I'm will not get him the odds to chase that flush.
UTG call <-feel sick now, I am hoping he doesn't have AA or a set.
    Cards are turn over
UTG donky has AcJs<-wow, nothing but draw. free chips ^^
River is AH, i'm down to red zone.

I don't mind bad beat, i don't mind suck out. It happen, that's poker.
but for the past 3 days, It always happen after I put all my chips in on the turn.
Honest speaking, I don't think I am tilting today, I actally play good poker.
I got suckout 3 time on the river and lose half my stack each time. but i always manage, bring it backup.
I'm at a point, i really think skill can't beat donky luck, I think i will stop playing for a while, and read some books before i am back to action.

A pessimist has a glass that is half empty

It sounds like your glass is half full....

    of Poop!

Listen dude, the best advice that I can about this is SUCK IT UP!!!

If you play poker very well:
    - you will get sucked out on
    - you will lose pots with 2 pair and TPTK
    - you will lose pots with flushes
    - you will lose pots with full houses

If you want to become a better poker player and I assume that you do because you are here, then learn to deal with it. Make good decisions at the table. Make sure that you have a reason for everything that you do.

Don't whine about bad beats because NOBODY CARES!

    Good Luck

  • I'm at a point, i really think skill can't beat donky luck.

I think this quote can be put in the mouth of any pro knocked out of the WSOP ME. I think all pros understand that any big tournament becomes a crapshoot. Yet, they seem to be able to make a living out of it. Why? In the long run, skill will generate those big wins and make up for the short term losses to those donky calls.
  • Chuckie,

Question for you on that last hand you posted:

"i raise to 1800<-Sort of Probe/trap bet. not too big, so he can call, and I can still get away from my kings, if i got reraised back to me."

To me, the min raise is where you went wrong here. Are you not happy to win the pot at this point? Why get greedy and look for his whole stack? What do you do if the ace comes on the turn.

The min raise almost guarantees a call. I agree that he's a donk for betting the turn AND calling your all in with nothing but ace-chasing magic.

    BUT...

    Why let him get there?
  • i think a paragraph is needed here.

It's not your english that is hard to understand, it's the lack of proper paragraphs. Even the french have proper writing don't they?

I also enjoy reading your posts, I just have a hard time reading them not because of your english, but because of your style.
