Brantford Poker Room Moving ..Stupid Craps!

Apparently, the Poker Room in Brantford is closing for 10 days so that they can move Craps and Roulette Tables in the poker room. The New Poker Room will be near the Bar. When it's closed for those 10 days, they will only have 10 tables opened.

  • When are they closing for the 10 days?

Hope it's not the first weekend of the month.

    Geez, this isn't good.

One of the things (among many) I like about the Brantford room is it's relative isolation from the slots. Sure, you can hear them, but with the waiting room buffer, and the bar buffer, it's pretty good in there. If this is true, I'm sure hoping they are planning to somehow "soundproof" the new room. Unless they're moving it to the back by the bank of TV's, where this week's tournament will be, which isn't that bad (although I still prefer the current location).

I'm a bit confused by the original statement ... you say the poker room is closing, but then you say while it's closed, they will only have 10 tables open. Am I correct that poker will continue during that time, but with only 10 tables (or am I reading your comments incorrectly?)? If so, at least that's not *so* bad, since it's only 10 tables less than they normally have.

Any idea how many tables the new "room" will accomodate?

I'm heading there tomorrow for the $500 tourney (I'm 4th on the waiting list, and hope to grab a seat; if not, I'll play 20/40). I'll see what else I can find out.

Isn't that what you hear at the Black Jack tables there....
Oh CRAP, knew I shouldn't have hit on 20
  • I saw an Elimination BJ tourney where the only way the guy could stay alive was to double down on 20 and he hit his A. Wow.
  • I never knew this. Does anybody know when they got the license for it? Can anybody confirm the craps table running yet or not and how many tables there will be.
  • the dealers start dice training, next week. It is a 10 week course, apparently alot of dealers don't like this training. Cuz' its half the pay, but one dealer said, if you get certified for dice training any casino in the world will hire you.
  • From a brief converation I had with a supervisor ...

    - they will be closing the room next week, to make some alterations.

    - they will keep the 10 tables they have in the tournament area, and will use them as the "poker room" for a week or so.

    - they haven't started training for craps yet, so there is no timeframe for permanently moving the room. For now, it will go back to it's current location after next week's alterations.

    - there will be some renovations to what will become the new poker room, but she didn't know what the renovations would be (or wasn't telling me).

  • Thanks for the update.
    Glad the "room" isn't closing.
  • They are hoping to have the poker room reopened after this Friday (feb 2nd). They are not moving any roullette or craps into there. They are going to have the same number of tables in the same layout but they will all be wired now. They are installing automatic shufflers again (a surprise since the trial run they did last year did not go well) and card reader slots at each seat for players cards. There should also be a keypad for the dealers to send info to the sups (ie.. seat open) instead of the remote ones they have now. Apparently enough people where cheating the comp system in the poker room that it precipitated this renovation.
Yes, I know that the comp is very low and you would have to do a lot of scamming to make anything worthwhile (that was my initial reaction and subsequent comment when I found out) but Casino saw enough loss there that they thought it was worthwhile. Keep in mind it wasn't the only reason for the changes, just one of the reasons.
I have noticed a few of the table games allready have the card reader slots in them so they are probably going to modernizing all the applicable games they can, eventually.
  • What are card readers? And what purpose would they serve for the player?
  • card readers are for your winner's circle card. Each player gets around 0.46 cents an hour for playing. You can redeem this for food comps. For instance play 20 hours and get a sandwich.
