What's Your Favourite Poker Move?

Originally I liked the check-raise/ check-all-in (w the nuts) when I first started playing and loved the thrill of taking out another player after they raised all-in and I surprised them with a call. The thrill diminished and now I love watching a players reaction after they raise and I re-raise (calling their bluff) and they quickly fold. Then I turn over my cards to their astonishment, I re-raised with garbage. Just wondered what other moves people enjoy and it gives you a kick. More pertaining to live play than online.

  • My favourite move is when I gather the chips I won.

Can't say I have specific move I like more than another, it depends on the game, who I'm up against, our chipstacks, and if it's a tourney, how deep I am at the time.
  • In/Out works for me.
  • The pre-flop fold under the gun with 2-7 off.

The pre-flop RAISE UTG with 7 2 off!!! flopping 772.

    Ooopsie.
  • limp reraise UTG with a full table is my favourite.
  • I generally play a loose game live (where I can get a better feel for the players) and a tight game online. To mix things up a bit in an online game, I'll ocassionaly make a substantial pre-flop bet with a hand such as 46o. I'll likely only get 1 or 2 callers due to previous tight play. If the flop comes up something like A-K-9, I'll make a small bet and they'll very often believe my premium hand representation and lay it down. If the flop comes 4-4-8, I'll make a larger bet and they'll very often call, sensing only an attempt to take a pot with overcards. Regardless of whether I end up winning a pot or folding to a raise after a failed attempt at the first type of play, I will, of course, show my hand. This gets them to play a lot more hands with me in the future, hands where I WILL be a favorite pre-flop.
  • I couldn't say what is my favorite move, as depending on the table your at there could be many favorable moves. But there definitely isn't anything more heart racing, and rewarding, than successfully pulling off the triple-barrel bluff. Especially when you know that your opponent isn't just making a move at the pot either, and you get him to lay down a pretty good hand. Whether you show them the bluff or not, inside you definitely feel like a million bucks after pulling that off!
  • It would appear that I like putting money in ahead and discovering new and exiting runner-runner combinations that beat me.

How did I know this was coming?

Correction: How did anyone who has talked poker with Mark in the last 6 months know this was coming?

Many many times this has happened to me. When I get brave and play them they show up maybe 1 of every 6 times

LOL, at least you don't post them on the forum. I guess you realized there might not be enough space on the web server for that ;)

  • When you are bullying the table as big stack and you purposefully overbet because people think you are just trying to run over the table and then you show down a big hand.
