Western Canadian Tournaments.

Hi Dave/all,

First of all, by 'Western', I mean west of Ontario... ;)

I'm considering playing in either the Edmonton tournament in October, or the Regina one in November. Does anyone have any thoughts as to which of these will have a bigger prize pool? I'm having a bit of trouble trying to figure it out... Edmonton has a bigger buy-in, but I suspect they'll get fewer entrants.

Also, does anyone know any details about any upcoming River Rock tournaments in Richmond, BC?

Thanks,

  • I don't think River Rock has anything specific yet. I know they are planning events -- inlcuding big events, but nothing specific yet.

Regina has, historically, had bigger turnouts.
  • i have heard that river rock is supposed to start having tournies the week after labour day...and probably around 50-100 buy-in....

but they have yet to decide any dates for 'bigger' tournaments
  • Here's what's currently on the Casino Regina website.

    Any re-buys & add-ons? (Details?) Is the Saturday tourney a 2-day event?

  • Without a doubt I would go to Regina. Edmonton ones are good, but not run as well as the Regina tourn. And I live in Edmonton. As for players Regina has the space to house 200+ comfortably, Edmonton can house 200+ but in 2 seperate rooms. And can be tight in one room space wise.

If your picking between the 2 go with Regina. Edmonton has room to improve.
  • Well, I think I know which one I'm going to attend, thanks guys. Regina does indeed host really good tournaments... just thought I'd see if Edmonton was going to be the 'new' Regina lol. Sounds like they need a bit of time.

    Cheers,

  • All four of the Regina tournaments have $100 unlimited conditional re-buys and a single $100 add-on. Saturday is a single day event.
  •
Well, I am sad that the Canadian planners have made the dates for this "Canadian Champs" in Regina when they are. I really wanted to attend this year.
The problem lies in the scheduling...
Same dates as the awesome: http://www.masterclassicsofpoker.nl/

These tournaments are regarded essentially as the European Championships.

Hopefully, again this year I will make it back to Amsterdam and try to bring home a plate or two (yeah they give you a dinner plate when you win). No Canadian has ever won jack all there in the mains (I did however once win a pl omaha 50euro with rebuy 60 people weekly tourney there :) ), BUT ITS ALL ABOUT THE MASTERCLASSICS so its time for a change!

Those Swedes sure can play NL and PL well. But OH :canada:
