How do you stop this or can you?

[FONT=&quot]I am getting killed in Ring and SNG's by people limping with AA, KK, AK. There isn't anyway to prevent this or recognize this unless you see a person doing this, is there? If then you recognize the person doing this your playing into his play not yours. Any Ideas![/FONT]

    Take advantage of this, 5 times out 10 they will get burried trying to limp with these hands....More people that see a flop, AA is just as good as 72o then!

    it is more likely a little more than 3 times out of 10...

    back to the question. you raise pre-flop with your premium hands and when they play back, you have to wonder and *maybe* give them credit. you play speculative hands cheaply. never fall in love with top pair and when you hit 2pr or better, clean them out. be sure to laugh (quietly) as they leave the table.

    There are certain, rare situations, where this can work out. The ones you look to be involved in, are not those.

    My advice for how to deal with this in a SNG is never risk all your chips.

    If the flop comes 2 4 8 rainbow and you've got A8 and top pair don't automatically push in or bet too big. Make a decent sized bet to test him. If he sticks around for the turn and the river then I would check the river and fold to his big raise. I basically am always aware of AA KK QQ when flops like that come because lets face it, top pair is easily beaten.

    I will push in with 2 pair (cracked slow played pocket aces twice like this in a multi the other night) and take my chances they won't trip up since I have just as good of a chance of hitting a boat. You can also bust the aces when you hit your set. My best advice is to never get too greedy and always make sure you have some chips left over to make a comeback unless you are almost certain you have him beat. Use a good Poker Calculator like Poker Pro 2006 or OPI. But I think Poker Pro 2006 is a superior product with tracking facilities and other advance features. I have come back from the very short stack in SNGs several times (150 or less) to place in the top 3.

    I have tried slow playing my big hands to try and be "sneaky" and it always seems to backfire. i have learned my lesson. i'd rather win the pot uncontested pre-flop then get burned by some garbage hand like 95off because i limped to get some action.

    Slowplaying the big hands preflop has certainly bit me in the seat a few times and I don't think in many online situations like a sng or a big mtt it would be worth it. But it can work out well when you are playing familiar opponents who know your tendencies in order to mix it up or if you have been playing tight for many hands and a preflop raise might not get you any action on a tight table.

    slow playing is obvious. do not overbet with hands like kq or aj. raise, but not substantially. this way you are not forced to call all ins. I also like to raise with suited connectors. Also, when someone raises preflop and you have low pockets, I always like to stick around. You are the driver in this situation. Whether it be trips, a few draws, or nothing, you can decide how you will play.
