poker books
I just wanted to say hello,I,ve been a member for a couple of months,
I,m relatively knew to playing poker and I am in the process of reading a couple of books.
I have been pricing other books and it seems like Amazon is the cheapest place to buy them.
I was wondering if anyone has bought from Amazon and if so did you have to pay taxes and duty,or any other charges when the books hit the border.
I was in chapters in st.catharines a couple of times trying to find the c.p.p.magazine, I was told they never heard of it.I have read posts on this sight where members have seen it in chapters stores
I,d appreciate any response to my book enquries thanks.

As for CPP, I know for a fact that the Chapters at John and Richmond, and the one at Bay and Bloor carry the magazine here in Toronto. I'm not sure about smaller towns and cities, though... Maybe send CPP an email through their website (canadianpokerplayer.com) and ask where the nearest retailer is.
BTW, I was raised in Grimsby, which as you know is pretty close to St. Catherines. Welcome to the forum!

They have pretty famous books; Supersystem, Theory, etc.
stanislav I play at the sight you mentioned and also at poker stars,I,ll go through the promotions at pacific and see if I can find out about the book deal.
A lot of the games I play in are low limit and this book was next on my list of poker-related items to purchase.
I probably would've bought it already had I been able to find it in any store in town.
WLLH is a must have, deffinately THE book on how to play sold limit hold 'em.
An excellent book, and certainly worth getting if you play low-limit holdem.
Also excellent for low-limit is "Winning at Poker" by Dave Scharf.
And the new Miller/Sklansky/Malmuth low-limit book "Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big with Expert Play" might be worth considering, although I haven't read this one yet myself so can't make a specific recomendation on it.

That's a lot of praise for Winning Low Limit Hold'em.
I guess I'll have to pick it up pretty soon.
Anyone know where I can buy it in Calgary?
I'd be surprised if there's a bookstore that carries it. I normally get poker books through www.amazon.ca
