Superstitions at the Table
Ok I'm just curious...
What are some the the strangest, funniest, or just right out to lunch, superstitions you've seen or do yourself at the Poker Table...
An example that came up at the Sunday PokerForum.ca bounty tournament that I find was the "I always get beat by a lesser hand when I'm up against Graham"
My personal 5 favourites are:
- is that if i pick my cards up with my left hand I will have a better hand.
- if I get a bad beat then I can't play the next hand because it will happen again.
- playing a rush
- if the same hand is dealt back to back to you, then you'll win the second time
- the "I can't beat that player" attitude.
Just curious if others have anything that they feel changes their game, but for the most part may not have any basis in fact...

Another silly superstition is asking for a deck change or dealer change just because the player is losing. A dealer was about to do his job of dealing final table, but this one player demanded that somebody else deal just because he had previous losses with this particular dealer. :-[
I know it doesn't actually do anything it just helps my psyche.
Not superstition, but I always look at one card at a time. I always, and I mean always know when I am getting a pocket pair after looking at the first card...I've proven on numerous occasions and when I look at one and say, "I am 100% the next card will pair this." I have never ever been wrong. It's totally crazy and makes me sound like an idiot but it is totally true. In low limit home games I announce it and show it just to prove it.
In cash games if I am not having any luck I will switch my hat from forward to backwards or vice versa(will also do this with my chair).
I always look at my whole cards the same way everytime. Holding them sideways one over the other and peek at the bottom card and then very slowly slide the top card up.

lol, amazing
and I almost never look at my cards until all the others have been dealt (this one is a childhood superstition that is just habit now)
