What is going on? Another robbery...

I'm not going to list the name of the club (its one I used to frequent) because I'm hearing this through a 3rd party so facts may be a little off.

60 players, decent size MTT ($300ish) , 5 guys walked in, held everyone at gun point and took their cash, wallets, jewlery and car keys. Estimate was 100k+ in cash was taken.

I really can't wait 'til these guys walk into the wrong club and have a 12 gauge stuck in their mouth.

I too have called some people from around the poker community and club owner's. And no one has heard of this happening. I am curious as to your source. Maybe they have this confused with the past two robberies.

I haven't heard of the clubs getting hit like that....however there appears to be more talk around Brantford about guys stalking the bigger winners in the parking lots...seems there's enough concern that the security are not constantly driving around the lots... also made me start thinking of the idea of a seperate wallet (shoulder baggie type thing) for the bank roll as aposed (sp?) to my main wallet..

I have my ear pretty close to the ground and know a lot of people in the GTA poker community... this certainly didn't happen in the GTA, if in fact Soup has his facts straight at all.

Is your source talking about the October 29 $300 tournament at The Farm, or is this a new robbery this month?

does it sound right that each person would be carrying an extra $1,300 in cash (on average) besides the tournament buy-in? I can't see all these players being involved with a cash game after the tournament and even with a 2/5, 5/10 game, isn't $1,300 a little excessive per person? I guess there are a lot of people losing a lot of cash at these clubs most nights.

for a 5/10nl game, it would not be a big shock for a player to have 3k on hand

Sorry guys, I'm trying to get this clarified however the contact number I have is no longer in use. One of the owners is my roomies cousin, and he just saw him at a family party over the weekend and he was explaining what happened and said it was very recent.

I'll post the exact details once I find them out myself.
