Vegas Rooms V.S. OLGC Rooms
Went to vegas last month and played at 3 casinos
Luxor, Excalibur, & MandalaBay!
I found the poker rooms very relaxed when it came to certain rules:
1) Eating at the tables is allowed in vegas, in fact the Suit will even bring you a side table for your burger and fries. Only catch is, you have to go get the food yourself. You can't even tip the cocktail waitress to bring you the food from the Casino restaurant. This is just downright bad! No matter how hungry you are, you should ask for a "Meal Button" and leave the table! don't eat at the table. It slows down the game, also your getting the cards all greasy! Everyone then comments, "oh that looks good, i'm gonna get one too" then you have 3 or 4 people at the table! At the OLGC such as Brantford, when your hungry do like I do: Get a Ceasar it comes with a Celary stick! ...lol (Just Kidding)
2) Talking on the phone, or checking your PDA for e-mails/text messaging is allowed in Vegas - Just at the Luxor/Excalibur! What is up with that?!?! That is so wrong in so many ways. If we can use a cellphone at the tables, then the casino should just provide us with one and have a sign for us to call 1-800-check-or-bet infact give us a pros cell number! This is just stupid, how do we know who the heck he is talking too. When did poker become "Who wants to be a millionaire with the life line option - phone a friend" What gets me is this, why do they talk in a different language? ...I'm sure there not talking about eachothers wives, or burritos and shit. Ban Cellphones at the tables! Worst distraction ever: He's on the phone, action comes to him "oh is it my turn?? ok, I raise" - idiot!
3) Don't care how new you are at the game of poker, you cannot take your bet back! Luxor,Excalibur & Mandalaybay I saw this. Drunk or Newbie would call a raise and be like "oh, I thought it was 2 chips to call" - dealer then points out there was a raise, and they pull back there chips! If you want to learn the game of poker, learn the rules and the only way you can learn is from your mistakes. I went to pull out my chips from a pot in Brantford because I didn't see the action get capped pre-flop because I was sitting next to a hottie and she was talking about her lesbian encounter - threw me off my game completly! As I reached for my chips, dealer said "your bet stays"
4) Smoking!?!?! - Need I Say more? Maybe i'm bias cuz' im a non-smoker, but damn guys if you need to smoke don't blow that shit in my face, just awful.
The table drink holder is not an ashtray or garbage can for your gum either!
5) Checking with chips in your hand - I'm glad this problem was solved at the OLGC casino's. I think this rule should be in vegas, many occasions I saw people trying to get a read my reaching for chips moving them forward and then a long stare down for an end result - check. I then took advantage of this aswell, I reached for my chips counted them out brought my hand over the line with chips in hand and the as I was about to say "chhh" the lady beside me folded.
6) High Hand Jackpots! - AWESOME, AWESOME...Bring it to the OLGC casinos.
Instead of 0.48 cents an hour, have a High Hand Jackpot - Nothing too big
Quads 10 and higher - $50
Straight Flush - $100
Royal Flush - $150
2 Cards to qualify or this structure for 1 card
Quads 10 and higher - $20
Straight Flush - $40
Royal Flush - $50
*If aces get cracked and the pot is over $30 then you get to spin a wheel concept is good!
i'd prefer these jackpots instead of .46 cents wouldn't you agree?
Anyways, if you guys can think of anything else that is different from Vegas pokerrooms compared to ours, please post!

Comments
Word!... dealers too, I notice that the dealers in Vegas are much more personable. It's like the same difference between "government worker" and "entrepreneur".
Did I just stick up for 13Cards? How unlike me.
-I also forgot to mention this: What the heck is it with the use of quarters at poker tables? can't they just round the rake to $0.50 cents? I was playing 4/8 half kill and they were using quarters to rake the pot, you know how hard it is to chip shuffle quarters??..lol..when I won the pot I was tipping in quarters, some people just put them in the cup holder slot and then racked up chips/quarters....but seriously, round up or make a quarter chip like the 50 cent chip.
- Free Booooooooze! Common OLGC can't we get this here? I'm addicted to Pina Colada's
Also the dealer's tips goes straight to that particular dealer's pocket rather than to a common pool like OLGC. I prefer to reward good dealers that way.
I totally forgot about that. Everyone shares the tips in Ontario, but Vegas they keep them.
Wow, how did you manage to miss all the good ones?
Wynn,Bellagio, Mirage, Caesars & Venetian? You haven't lived until you order a Bellagio Strawberry smoothie with the whipped cream and strawberry on top.
Edit #1:
Most of your anecdotal evidence is because you are playing in the s*holes of vegas where it's inhabited by newbies and 1-2/2-4 small stakers.
#2) You can't talk on your cellphone in the poker room in Vegas. If they were allowing it, they're violating Nevada gaming laws. Dealer shoulda told the guy to take it to the rail.
#3) You can't take you bets back, but understand that if you are playing below 10/20 the rules are open to interpretation and intent is king.
#4) Sit in the 1 seat or the 10 seat, they're non-smoking :-)
#6) HH jackpots are great for attracting the rock locals who have nothing better to do than sit at your table, play no hands and try to hit the jackpot. Also, you forget that Vegas casinos suffer from COMPETITION that forces them to innovate with 'weird' promotions. Until the ogliopoly of ontario poker rooms is resolved, only expect promotions that generate profit to the bottom line.
For for the quarters, it's a mandy-bay thing. Just tip them to your dealer/waitress you cheapass.
I have to agree with BBC_Z. These spots are way better. I just didn't see the Venetian as I missed opening day by one day.
Long story short, makes no sense....and yes, I was tipping with quarters! ...
