A Tale of Two Stallions
Shark and Donkey often visited the same bar. They drank beer and chased girls.
One day the Donkey said, “I am really good with the ladies.”
Shark nodded his head vigorously and smiled his biggest smile.
Donkey continued, “I tell them how it is. How they could make themselves look better. How they should act. Why they are so lucky to be hanging out with a guy like me!”
Shark continued to show his enthusiasm for Donkey and his tale of greatness.
A sweet young lady came walking by the two men. Donkey looked at her and then left to comb his hair. Shark smiled, said hello and nodded his head vigorously. She introduced herself as Lucy Patterson but said, “You can call me LP for short. Mind if I sit awhile?”
For the next while Shark sat with LP and noticed that she was uncomfortable when he asked her direct questions so he talked more about generalities instead. He led the conversation and kept things light. No talk of religion or politics. His soft tone made her feel very comfortable and he complimented her anytime she added to the conversation. LP looked very content to simply sit and let him make small talk. Shark told her that he enjoyed her company and she echoed her response. After a while LP said she had to go home but gave Shark her number. “Call me I’d love to see you again,” she said.
“I look forward to it,” Shark replied.
Donkey then returned from the bathroom. “Damn I look good.”
Shark nodded vigorously.
Another beautiful young lady approached. Her clothes were flashy and her voice was loud. “Hi Guys. I am Linda Anderson but you can call me LA!”
“Oh great another pushy broad,” Donkey said as he made a quick exit.
“That guy is an asshole,” LA said while she raised her eyebrows.
Shark just nodded vigorously.
LA spent the next hour talking about her victories, conquests, and her general outlook on life. She didn’t even notice that she had never even heard the sound of Shark’s voice. But he nodded vigorously.
Finally she handed him a note with her address on it. “You are the nicest guy I’ve met in a while. Meet me here in an hour and we will have one Hell of a night.” Shark nodded and smiled.
Donkey returned and told Shark he had met LA before, “She’s outspoken and opinionated! I tried to tell her how abrasive that is but women like her, they just don’t listen!”
Shark nodded and got up to leave for LA’s house.
“You probably should go home,” said Donkey, “The pickings are slim and you have to play second fiddle to me.”
Shark smiled and nodded vigorously.
