  • Ahhh the eternal BB dilemna. It could mean either. Ask who the person who used the abbreviation if you really think it matters. Avoid using BB yourself unless it's very clear what you're doing. (e.g. talking about SB and BB in close proximity makes the meaning quite clear)

Don't ask me which online site PP is either. I have no clue. :)

*Usually* when people are talking about hourly win rate, BB means Big Bet.

I'm not sure what's typical. I've heard things like 1 or 2 Big Bets per hour as being a realistic long term win rate playing playing limit.

  • Yep... I'm with Scotty. Could be either, but if you're reading it in a book, in the context of win expectation, it probably means Big Bet. And yes, anywhere between 1 to 2 Big Bets/hr is what a solid winning limit hold'em player can reasonably expect to make in the long run.

So, if you're playing 5/10, you *should* be averaging between 10 and 20 dollars an hour in profit, as a winning player, over a period of infinity. When you do the math--as the saying goes--it's a tough way to make an easy living.

As for PP, let's see... PartyPoker, Paradise Poker, Pacific Poker... any others?
