Online poker plays: BOYCOTT THE WSOP!!!

Harrah's is a major donor to Bill Frist and most of the other politicians who were instrumental to the passage of recent anti-Intenet gambling legislation in the U.S...And guess who currently runs the WSOP circuit!!! FUCK HARRAH'S, FUCK THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT, AND FUCK TRIBAL GAMBLING INTEESTS!!!

Title should say "players" instead of plays. I'm just really pissed off because of new information I've learned about Bill Frist.

  • Do you have a source?

This is pretty interesting if true.
  • Oh boy, a bandwagon! Is there room for me?

Do I get to pick a couple things to add to the FUCK THIS/FUCK THAT list, pleeeeease?

    /g2
  • I know... I know... FUCK SPELL CHECKERS!

  • If every single player boycotts the WSOP, there will still be 10,000+ at the 2007 ME.

"Oh, boycott? I must have missed that memo"

There will probably be less than 4,000 at the 07 ME. With the majority of entries coming from online and the change in US legislation regarding online gaming, we will probably see a HUGE drop off in players next year.

Well? Where are the additions to the list? I want to know the entire platform before I jump on the wagon myself.

Just wondering if anyone if anyone else has considered all the things in their day-to-day life they'd have to boycott if we really started caring about the shady things the rich and powerful Yanks do?

Americans are corrupt-and the sky is blue.
  • I'd love to see the actual source for this. It is fairly routine for large corporations to donate to both sides - cover all the bases. And to be honest, I'd be very surprised if they didn't donate to someone considered a presidential candidate. And I'm curious why this "love" is being directed towards Harrah's? Check the PAC contributions from other casinos (MGM, for example) over the last decade. What is Harrah's doing out of the norm (other than running the WSOP)?

Basically, I'd really love to see some facts to go with this well-written and vocabulary-rich rant...
  • Since when has this forum relied on FACTS to substaniated an opinion?

Seriously though, I personally think this rant is more political based than anything else. Will the WSOP be affected as a direct result of recent legistration? Sure it will. Will it mean nobody will play it? Hardly. Just a reduced field. But honestly, I think the whole WSOP should be revamped anyway. It was originally meant to determine the BEST poker player, not the luckiest.
  • Still no proof offered. Idiot.
  • They did try to revamp the WSOP this year, to determine the BEST player and not the luckiest. Some of the pro's stated before the event the $50 000 buy in HORSE trny would decide who got the title of the best player in their minds. Chip Reese won it.

    1 Chip Reese
    2 Andy Bloch
    3 Phil Ivey
    4 Jim Bechtel
    5 T.J. Cloutier
    6 David Singer
    7 Dewey Tomko
    8 Doyle Brunson
    9 Patrik Antonius
