Resukts from West Side Poker Clubs Nov. 18th Tournament

We would like to thank all those who came out to our event yesterday. It was a great day for all who came out, I guess except for maybe one person who remains to stay hidden in their obscurities of there poker forum name. Nor did they introduce themselves to ask any questions about the format.

Before I get into the results, let me give a little history on West Side Poker Club. West Side Poker Club started with a simple home game. The idea was to find a facility to host the largest “home games” in the province. Many of the players who come to are games would never go into one of the under ground clubs in the province, not because they aren’t good enough to play in that game but a variety of other reasons. For two years we have been running games for “these players” who play with the “home game” with mentality on a large scale.

To win a West Side Poker event is something special. In 2 years we have had only one person win twice. We have had as many as 140 people at one event. We have tried various blind structures to give our players the experience of playing in the big times. We average 70 people per tournament for over a two year period. I guess as long as we have interest we will continue to run out tournaments. With our next one being December 9th.

Here are the results from yesterday:

We had 70 people yesterday out of the 75 who signed up.

The final table began as follows:

Seat One – Al P, 93,000 in chips, 9th place
Seat two – Blondefish, 111,000 in chips, 2nd place 1200.00
Seat Three – Coach, 48,000 in chips, 6th place 150.00
Seat Four – Ken B, 64,500 in chips, 1st place 1200.00
Seat Five – Kristy Sea, 27,000 in chips, 7th place 50.00 gift certificate
Seat Six – Joe B, 12,000, 8th place
Seat Seven – Jeff T, 108,000, 5th place 300.00
Seat Eight – Janet M, 139,000, 3rd place 600.00
Seat Nine – Romer, 72, 500, 4th place 400.00

Ken and Blondfished chopped first and second.

Cam and I would like to thank all who came out yesterday and look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

  • Great day.
Don't let one idiot get on you. It was well run and what I had expected.

I really enjoyed playing some NL with Josh when he came to visit us at the Kids Table even though he cut into my stack quite a bit man I hate 32322 on the board....lol

Couldn't put him on the 3 with the PFR call that he made.

Count me in for the 9th.
  • Thanks for yet another fun and well-run tournament. While any poker club will have room for improvement, WSPC has the best structure among the raked tournaments. With a "Skill Level" of 5, one has a lot of time to play poker, and poker skills becomes a crucial factor in making it to the money instead of just luck. Below is a comparison of various tournaments.

    - Skill Level 0-1: most satellites.
    - Skill Level 2: many club tournaments
    - Skill Level 5: WSPC with only $65 buy-in 8) and Casino Rama Fall Classic with $1,100 buy-in
    - Skill Level 6: WPT tournaments costing $2,700 - $10,300 and WSOP costing U$1,000 - U$10,000.

  • Now for the most important question who gets the ring? That part seems to be missing.
