  • An integral team member, to be sure. ;)

After all my Fem-naTzi type posts this may sound strange..but I (as a woman)am not offended at all by that clip...maybe just a little embarrassed for the girl.

this is a recycle from another forum I post on..but I think it fits-

"In a game sporting such phrases as "all in", "the nuts", "come over the top" and "push" I think its a bit of a stretch to cry foul when someone sexualizes poker. In fact the truth is- you probably owe your interest in the game to its sexy/high risk/testerone filled set up- Kindly refrain from boring me with talk of strategy and skill or you'd all be playing chess. Those are valid facets of the game...but there's alot more to its appeal.

The girls who dump the money on the table in the WPT are a perfect example and even Woman Poker Player magazine has a few riske photos. I'm sure most (female) players can admit to using sex as a weapon.

The truth is we all play the game because its dirty, elemental, and darwinian...and what fits our "caveman" mentality better than scantilly clad women? Stop faulting NakedPoker [in this case CARDPLAYER] for knowing their market and face facts ...we're an elite form of degenerates- and there's nothing wrong with that.
  • For the love of God can we not just call a spade a spade or in this case a bimbo a bimbo.

Kristy I have read many posts by you on this forum and they all seem to have increasingly less poker content and more about feminist rants or sexualty.

FYI there is sex in everything today! It is a marketing tool for nearly every product in the free world so why should poker be any different! We all know it so it is redundant to highjack every thread and beat this drum.

Lets just let the original post stand on its own merit. My interpretation is this, “Hey everyone, for a good laugh look at this little tart standing there with nothing to add other than having her tits sticking out of her shirt.”

I understand that you are female. I just don’t care. Male or female aside we are here to discuss poker. Initiate an interesting conversation about the game or strategy and I will be happy to enter into a cerebral exchange with you. However your continual themes of “flirting with boys wins me pots,” or “poker is unfair because I can’t find any gender specific media,” are getting old. Here is a tip for you, IT’S ALL BEEN DONE!

Now from paying attention to you previously here is my read on you:
Your will go on a huge rant back at me about this and label me a Caveman or a Chauvinist and you tend to over bet the pot pre-flop from early position when you are holding AK or AQ.

I don’t know you so this is not personal. I am just sick of reading these posts and from other responses I have read I am not the only one!

By the way there is no ‘T’ in Nazi.

    Caddy
  • wow. I believe I started and defended ONE thread related to sexuality. No huge rant, your response is unreasonable and unnecessary.

yo spelling NAZI, take a look at: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=feminatzi

dammit i love a good irony!

for what it is worth, i don't think the flavour of kristy's post was any different than what you are getting at.

i guess it really depends on your interpretation of billsparks intent in the OP. if he was truly offended by the clip then we can all say "there's sex in poker. get over it."
  • Caddy, I don't see where Kristy did anything to warrant an attack here. For the most part, both of your responses say the same thing...there's sex in poker, like everything else, and marketing will exploit it.

I don't think you read her first post very accurately at all.

I appreciate your reply and if the kangaroo court of the forum says that I am out of line than I can live with that and will take the criticism constructively.

My confidence in my ability to read however remains unhinged by your response. I think I was clear that I did not respond to this one post on it's own, i responded to the ongoing theme in ALL of her posts.

At any rate I have said my piece and I feel better for it. I simply don't want our forum to by hijacked by any one posters special interests. It cheapens the experience for all of us.

  • Are you drunk?

    Am I?

Please read my initial post again..it is specific to the op's "they have no shame" and completely relevant.

From there you've recycled the ideas I originally presented and somehow consider them to be arguments against and those exact same ideas

-I promise I WILL step out of line at some point at which point please feel free to nail me- but I do not believe I have here.
  • Wow, look what I started with only my fourth post ever. Way to go me! I have no interest in embroiling myself in some ongoing dispute between members of this forum. As the "n00b", I recognise it's just not a smart thing to do.

I posted this (and it was a cross post from another forum I frequent) because I genuinely find it ridiculous that they would introduce someone at the start and end of a segment who makes absolutely no contribution to the piece. One could argue that her contribution is that she is esthetically pleasing, but by that logic the host should also introduce the lovely man-made lagoon in the background.

Now, to be fair, since my original post CardPlayer has released other videos in which Ms. Harrison is a more integral participant and in that context the first video seems a little less silly. But when I first saw it I had a good laugh and just wanted to share. I apologise if my post was a catalyst for anything more than a bemused chuckle from this community.

I am not drunk but I was this past weekend.

If you are drunk on a Monday morning then good for you I am jealous.

Fine, Fine, Fine.....Why do you continue to tell people to go back and re-read your posts? For the third time in this thread, I AM RESPONDING TO THE ONGOING THEME OF YOUR POSTS! -- (This means not this post on it's own) If you don't think it is a common theme with you then read your own post as you state in black and white that you are quoting.....YOURSELF!!!

I am an educated man but I have no idea what you mean. BTW - I went back and read it again.

There is no interest on my part of nailing anyone here. I have never flamed anyone on this board ever! I do not come here to flame and I do not come here to read about another posters hidden agenda.

    Caddy
  • Welcome to the forum!

Its we who should apologize, I seem to be the impetus for Caddy's hijack..which has derailed your very amusing clip.
  • Please stop Caddy,

I'm allowed to have an issue about which I am passionate and also post in threads to which said issue may be relevant-in fact its even LOGICAL that I would do so.

There is no 'hidden agenda' I'm a woman and women's issues interest me..of course that will be a theme with in posts that pertain to sexuality and the treatment of women. What would you have me discuss here in a thread created to show how the woman was overlooked/objectified..cheese, hockey, socks?

You ARE here to flame..your responses continue to be unreasonable and unnecessary.

Thanks for the welcome. I must admit that in a strange way the derailement itself has provided me with some amusement. It's always fun to be on the outside looking in. Anyway, at this point I'll step back into the shadows and let the two of you resolve things.
  • Welcome Bill. Enjoy the forum.

You are right Kristy. There is no point to this and I should have known better. As if you would suddenly say, "Yes he has a point."

No go ahead and get in your last word!

    Gladly!

You have no point for me to accept, so I'll conclude with:

"Best of luck to you Sir, and thank you for supporting MY ideas, even if you attempted to rehash them as your own." ;)
