Just getting back to live poker and have done really, correction extremly well!
My co-worker got tickets to see Celine Dion in Las Vegas, and was happy to tag along. We stayed at the Luxor nice hotel crappy poker room (relaxed atmosphere) dealers suck, and they only spread 2-4 limit or 1/2NL max. $50 buy-in. I'm a limit player so I stayed away from that!

I sat down at 2/4 with $100 - cashed out for $78
My goal was to win a buy-in for the $62.00 freeze out.
*WARNING* CRAP SHOOT! 600 chips blinds start at 25/25
Came in 2nd place $205 suck-out central
KK vs 85s (yep, wasn't proud of the call but I had to make a stand I thought he was blind stealing) BOARD: A5J98

I then took my winnings to MandalyBay Sat down with $350 at 4/8 Half Kill
2hrs into my session I get 10s 7s BB
2 limpers see a flop with 2 spades on board I check, UTG bets, other limper raises, I call the raise, limper calls the raise. TURN another spade I check (slow playing my T high flush) UTG bets, other guy raises *WARNING* Never Show Your Cards When There Is Still Action In Front.

I flip over my cards so the dealer and the rest of the 9 players see my flush, I turn to the dealer and said, "what is this casino rama?, you sure know how to deal excitement...BIG TIME" ...I forgot I was the only Canadian at the table, and people thought I was drunk when I said that. I mucked my cards! Table then started saying "Ooooh and aaaaah, are u an idiot?"
Back to the hand, UTG then turns to me and say's "NEVER SHOW YOUR CARDS WHEN THERE IS ACTION IN FRONT, AND YELLS RE-RAISE"
original raiser just calls, river card is a brick and UTG bets out and gets called.
SHOWDOWN:
UTG 4s 6s
LOSER Ah Kd
ps. There was no Ace nor King on Board!

After that hand, I was known as newbie, dealer said to me: WHY DIDN'T YOU RE-RAISE? All I could say was "I Had Ten High"

I lost $100 playing 4/8

Next day went to Excalibur (beauty of this is, moving esculators you don't have to walk outside to get to these casino's all 3 hotels are attached!)

2/4 Limit Won $400.00+ Not including Tips (okay, as my subject title say's try this) This is what I want you guys to do!

If the action gets checked around to you, and you Top Pair check your top pair! (Remember your top pair has to be 9's or Better) then on the turn bet out, this will get people who have middle pair call you, and if your out of position and someone leads out on the turn, check-raise!

I'm not saying this is wise because you are playing Limit, the fish will swim regardless and your giving them a free card to catch up, but honestly even if you bet out you think they are going to fold anyway??!? Of course not!

Why do I want you to try this? Sat down at 5/10 the other night and did this strategy and nearly walked away with $800. Was I the luckiest guy in the poker room that night? Maybe, did I play extremly tight Yes! I started getting lots of respect when I entered a pot my showdown % was in the high 70's

Please try this, and let me know how it goes!

Also, I do understand that results may vary depending on the type of player you are, so please do not post "Value Betting, Fold Equity, Losing Bets, Pot Odds...etc." If at first you don't succeed.....CHANGE GEARS! Also, read the board as well, if the turn card looks like its a flush or straight or middle pair came with a twin use your common sense.

  • Remember a term called variance? Bet you won't be able to stay at low limits for long..... I can see another train wreck coming and probably bigger. Geesh Ali, don't do it man!

    REMEMBER...

  • ya i'm worried about you, man. in no way am i going to encourage you to continue with this.
  • I agree with the other ppl replying - I'm seeing patterns in your posts and I am not the most intuitive guy in the world.

Although I wish you nothing but str8 flushes against Ace high flushes, please do consider your previous thoughts on the game; re-read your previous posts about poker and life.
  • Get a grip man. You have a self confessed problem which you have stated numerous times on this forum. Just because you have one good trip doesn't mean you won't fall into the hole in which you were in.

Would you expect us to tell an alcoholic to "drink up"? Or a drug addict to "snort a line for me"? It is the same issue. QUIT and stop being dumb.

If you thought we was trying to steal the blinds I am assuming you did this preflop - In general if you want to protect against a blind steal you should have some sort of hand - even if he is trying to steal the blinds - chances are that your raggedy 8-5 wont be the better hand.
  • I know i always go all in with my 8,5s. Ohh and he was also trying to steal your blinds with his kings. Even more reason to push em out there. No!! let the chips go!!
