Intro from BC!

Hi All! Nice to stumble upon this Canadian site and many of the topics I have checked out on this forum are very interesting because it's CANADA and what else is there to do in the Winter except poker, poker, and more poker!! Anyways, I am a 52-year old female player that turned to poker after 25 years of blackjack - bj Continuous shuffle machines - need I say more. I do Vegas from BC about 2 or 3 times a year for poker now rather than bj and enjoy the casinos in lower Mainland Vancouver - especially Boulevard and Cascades casinos in Coquitlam and Langley respectively. I haven't got rich playing for all these years but I usually pay for my trips and have enough to get started on airfare/hotel for my next trip. I live up north (yes, it's snowing a bit today, thank you!) and have played poker at Prince George (3 1/2 hour drive). Because we are so rural it is diffiicult to do a lot of home tournies due to the population but I try my best. Next tournie hopefully Boomtown in Fort McMurray (CPT event) on March 3rd. Hope to see you there!!! Yup, just look for the old broad with a poker face...LOL

  • BC in the house!!!!! my sister lives out your way.. I have also played at the cascades. 15 minute drive from her house. Played the limit table, any no limit yet? Hope you like the site and glad to talk to you later. Old broad who gave up on BJ's
  • Welcome to the forum!
  • Good one Kristy - lol. As one woman to another you will find this funny. Last July at Imperial Palace at a sit-and-go limit table I played for 6 hours and all men coming and going. I did very well and when I left I tossed about $40 to the dealer for a tip and he said "Thank you Sir". I laughed and said, "Well, I guess I AM just one of the guys!" He seemed a little embarrased and I said it was a compliment.

    lol!

I'm curious to hear more about you (not too many of us girls here)..what games do you play/prefer, what sites ..and anything else you're interested in sharing re: poker.

I remember reading about a big women's tournament in B.C. a while back in Richmond (I think to raise money for breast cancer)-you didn't happen to play it did you?
(I'm horribly ignorant of B.C. Geography, I'm guessing you aren't close enough to Richmond to play but thought I'd ask anyway)

Good luck, glad to have help upping the estrogen level here ;)
  • welcome to the forum red :) I'm envious of everyone living out there. I lived in Whistler for awhile and quickly understood why we're called "Onterrible"
  • Welcome Red. Great to see new members coming out more.
  • Yes, I was in that tournie last February at Cascades in Langley and played the one-day Limit event. I came in 68th out of 250. Due to obligations I couldn't do the no-limit Sat/Sun event but it was a lot of fun with about 500 women sharing hotel rooms etc., banquet, etc. I have never been to River Rock in Richmond but plan to one of these days. I have reservations for Cascades for New Years and plan to play poker until I drop when I make it to the "big city". How often do you play at b & m? I'm totally NOT an online cash player despite being on a computer most of my life at work and at home it seems. When I'm bored I like to meet people and chat and play online but I find online play (or should I say computer software poker) rather strange, frustrating, unrealistic, and not something I would follow at a real poker table. Nice to meet you too. I'm sure we'll talk again.
