I wonder how many of those 69% that think online poker is a problem play the lottery or play the stock market.
I'd rather play poker any day.
What about Slot machines, Bingo and Pro-Line.
I know of a few people that play those regularly (enough so that it could be considered a problem) but it was not in the article.
I do think I have the skills to play poker professionally but think the amount I would make as a pro would be about equal to the amount I make working. Plus I wouldn’t want to have a bad streak for a month, two or long and then start to wonder want I am going to do for money.
An alarming number of Ontarians believe pokerslots/horse betting/lotteries is a viable means to make alivingfund their retirements, according to a study released Tuesday by the Responsible Gambling Council secret study done by the provincal lottery corporation.

Seems it's ok to piss your money away on games of chance but not on one where skill is required.
I think that article is full of holes. Yes some people have a problem with gambling, i see them all the time on various sites, and welcome them, i wish they would come over and play in a home game. The article in my opinion failed when it treated poker as a game of chance/luck/gambling.... if you play poker seriously, you play it with mostly skill and a dash of luck, the article seemed to focus on mostly chance/luck/gambling and not skill play...Its like they said in rounders......Why do you see the same people at the final table of the world series of poker... are they the luckiest guys in vegas...???? Nope!

True put most of the people that have problems with poker have no Skill
What amazed me about the article is the timing. I mean, shouldn't this article have been posted like 2-3 years ago? Obviously a slow news day...
Maybe there will be an interesting article coming up about the popularity of the Ipod, or the devastation of Katrina, or the dot com collapse...
In short, this article can be summed up nicely by....YAWN.
