Rama Fall Classic

The $150+10 satellites won't start until there are at least 11 people that want to play. There were no satellites run today. The following is the prize structure:
1st - $1,100 entry
2nd - $210 for a $50 profit
3rd - $180, $20 profit
4th - get $160 back.

The blinds start at 25/50 and go up every 15 minutes. The bad news is that the starting stack is only 800 chips, so it is a crap shoot like the Step 1 satellites.

I will probably try to organize a group trip with a couple of good poker players. Whoever doesn't qualify will at least get a stake with the satellite winner.

do you know what the starting chips are and the blind levels for this tournament? Any idea how the satellites work (are they a crap shoot like the Niagara WPT satellites)?

  • Who here is going to play the Rama fall Classic? If you are what day are you going to play. I will probably play but haven't bought a seat yet.
  • Sorry, but when is this?
  • Hi Joe, do you know what the starting chips are and the blind levels for this tournament? Any idea how the satellites work (are they a crap shoot like the Niagara WPT satellites)? It looks like you play down to a certain number of players in each of the preliminary rounds. Do your chips carry over from the first day of place, or do you start fresh on the final day? Not much info on Rama's website. Cheers.

  • Taken from Poker Source Online-
Rama Ontario, Fall Classic Blind structure outline.

Starting Chips $5000 - Blinds go up every 30mins.

Do not forget that Rama has 11 players per table at all times for all games.

    level 1 25 / 25
    level 2 25 / 50
    level 3 50 / 100
    level 4 100 / 200 ante 25

    level 12 1200 / 2400 ante 400

    level 20 10,000 / 20,000 ante 3,000

    etc, etc.

Full participation will be 4 days X 12 Tables X 11 players / table = 528 players. Buy in $1000. Do not be surprised to see this tourney fill as it did last year when the buy in was $700 because Ontario is starved for
    tournaments.
  • what is the payout structure?
  • If there is enough interest I would host a sat. with a lot more friendly struture. See http://www.pokerforumcanada.com/showthread.php?t=10463 for more info.
  • SOS won a satellite last week. I am not sure which day he is going up.

I, of course, lost my shot 2nd hand in.

pokerJAH, I replied to your PM. My friend plans to run the rake-free satellite this weekend. The plan is to use a similar structure as the Fall Classic, i.e., 5,000 starting chips and WPT blinds. Each participant will get a share of any winnings at Casino Rama.
  • I played one the other week....finished second....chip leader had about 5000 and I had the rest...turned on the hyper aggressive heads up style...and pushed raised with A9 diamonds to 800(blinds were 100/200 with 25 antes)...got called....flop A with two hearts...I bet out 800 again..he goes over the top all in...I call instantly...he flips 24hearts...and hits on the turn...

Good satellite overall...just need to be patient early on and hit one good hand...from that point play position and you should be fine....

  • BlondFish, can you PM me details of the satellite? Location, contact
    # etc. Thx.
  • So the satellites are ran daily, as long as 11 players would play?
  • Yeah they run 24/7 as long as they have enough players. I just got back from Rama about 2 hours ago and with a little luck won the first satellite I played. I will be playing on the Thursday Dec.7. These satellites are far better then the Niagara satellites. Only one table to win and you win your money back minimum if you place in the top 4.:s: :d:
  • Any advice on the Fall Classic Satellites; does it make sense to wait for a good hand at the beginning or do you have to play aggressively from the start? with so little in starting chips, and the blinds increasing so quickly, not sure if it is a total crap shoot.

I've always played super aggressive right from the get go. People have some hesitation on playing for a good chunk of their stack right away. After 30 minutes with 5 of you left then it's good luck or good night as it's a push fest. I've not managed to take one down but I haven't played many.
  • I was up at Rama yesterday and they started running a 2nd table for satellites. Same format but the buy in is $300 with the top 3 players getting a seat in the fall classic.
Rumour has it the only have 270ish of 528 seats filled. Looks like they are making a last minute push to fill the tourney.
  • I'm going up Saturday...anyone want to set up a time and have a CPF satellite thing sort of...?
  • Does anyone want to sell a seat to the fall classic? I would like to play on the Wed. Dec 6. Please PM me.
  • Thanks for the information. At $300 each for 11 players, that means that the whole $3,300 prize pool is being paid out in three seats. Are you saying that Casino Rama is now running rake-free satellites?

Just confirmed with Rama, $300 + $10 (so not rake free); also, they have yet to fill a table for this satellite so it might be a long drive for nothing.

  • If you have no time to travel to Rama for a satellite, like me, you can buy directly in using Ticketmaster with a credit card.

In the past you would have to drive all the way to Rama to buy in so I think the Ticketmaster thing is a great idea.

Knowing ticketmaster their convience fee is probably more than the administration fee. And the government is concerned about "Raked" poker games. Ticketmaster is the worse "Raked" business of any.
