Biggest Bad Beat I have ever had!!!

So playing on the NL table at my local casino...
I get dealt KK UTG, I raise to $25 and some guy raises to $50. Another guy calls and I decide I just want to take the $109 out there right now and push all-in with $400 chips. The first guy who raises folds and the second guy who called called me with $300 chips. I show him KK and he shows me AQ. I pray for no A and the flop comes KQ7. The turn comes an Ace and the river an Ace aswell! And the first guy who raises had AJ so those were the last two aces in the deck. Running side by side turn and river!!!

Screw that!

  • Ouch!!
  • Thats a tough one to take. But hows this for a kick in the ass....I was in a NL game blinds were $1-$2 I had $400 in front of me.
I flop the nut straight. I get almost all the money in on the flop against one player who is all in for around $385. He has 2 pair and of course makes a full house on the river. I dont rebuy yet AS I am stunned by what just happened they deal the next hand.....I am the big blind 4 limpers no raise I check with 67s. I flop a straight flush. 2 players flopped a set including my buddy who rivered me the hand before. The board pairs on the turn. If I had rebought right away I could of had a piece of the biggest pot of the night.
The max buyin was 200 so I couldnt have won it all but still I would have got all my money back from the last hand plus a little more. I was so SICK I had to leave the game.
  • This is my personal pet peeve about bad beat stories... You only get to claim the odds of winning when the money got pushed into the pot. In this case, you were a 70/30 shot..

    Holdem Hi: 1712304 enumerated boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
    Ks Kc 1223243 71.44 483206 28.22 5855 0.34 0.716
    Qd Ah 483206 28.22 1223243 71.44 5855 0.34 0.284

You don't get to claim the flop odds towards your bad beat because you've 'locked-in' your money on the 70/30 shot..

So while on that flop you were

Holdem Hi: 990 enumerated boards containing Qs 7c Kd
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
    Ks Kc 970 97.98 20 2.02 0 0.00 0.980
    Qd Ah 20 2.02 970 97.98 0 0.00 0.020

and I'm sure that does hurt like hell.. You still were 'only' a 70% fav.. A crummy loss yes.. A terrible bad beat? Not really.
  • I was going to post something pretty much exactly along the lines of what BBC Z said. Consider yourself lucky if the worst bad beat you've ever seen is losing with KK vs. AQ all-in pre-flop.

  • Just the other day I was 10 of 10 in a 400+ player tourney on stars. Not only were the blinds killing my short stack, but with 10 left it's 5 players on each of 2 tables....no time to wait! Blinds will be around REAL soon. I had to push on either of the next two hands.

So I get K Q offsuit and shove it in....just 1 caller. He flips over A 7 so I'm a dog, but I've seen sicker cows get better. Flop comes A Q 8 .... not great for me, but still alive. Turn comes K and I hear Al Michaels say "do you believe in miracles". Only to see the River pair the 8 from the flop, giving my opponent a better two pair (hello Dead Man's Hand). So out I went, and I cursed the luck, but by no means could I really complain about the river when I was a dog when the $ went in.

A side note, a little earlier I had pushed in with A 7 and got called by A J. Not looking good. Flop is Q Q 8. Turn is a rag and I type in "gg". River is an 8 and before I know it half the chips come my way ! I hadn't even thought about the board pairing to give me a CHOP. Whew. So, the moral of the story is you get lucky, you get unlucky...that's what keeps bringing us back.
