Bad river bet
As soon as I made this river bet, I realized what a horrible play this was. The guy is not going to lay down any hand which beats me, or call with any hand I'm winning against. This is the classic "last to act on the river mistake" in its full blown glory. I should have just checked here, since there's absolutely no reason to bet the river.
He went into the tank for a few seconds, and my irrationally hopeful side started to think he might actually be pondering folding an Ace.
The actual outcome was amusing enough that it warrants embarassing myself by posting the hand. (Hey, put my name in that new boneheaded plays thread. Again.)
Lastly, don't you think this hand is a beautiful demonstration of the power or position? On the flop, the worst position player decides to make a move on the pot. This clears out the middle position players, possibly partially because they are facing a late position pre-flop raiser. (Okay, I'll also buy the simpler explanation that they have zilch.) Then the late position player sees the coast is clear to make a move of his own and play back at the original bettor.
