  • How'd you get it Brent? As far as I know the only way is to call in when Hitz FM Harry does his thing, I have tried last year and this year and never get through!!!!
  • I only found out about this at Casino Niagara last weekend when I was playing the WPT satellite and cash games. I bought one of the last seats available. I later tried to buy seats for my friends, but they were sold out as of last night.

Which session are you playing in, Brent? Good luck!
  • how much were the tickets? what are you playing for?
  • Casino Niagara did not bother to post any details online or in writing, but from what I have been able to find out, the prize pool is $20,000 with first prize being $10,000. My voucher cost $85. All 264 seats are supposed to be sold out, so it will be almost as big as the WPT CPO! It starts at 10 AM on Monday, October 30. I think that 97.7 FM will be broadcasting live.

  • that's a pretty sweet deal! I guess they had extra tickets left over from the 97.7 contest so they decided to sell them. If you come across any extra, let me know.

  • I've been trying to phone in to win a seat for this on 97.7 for a long time, no luck. I am shocked they are selling seats as I do not believe they did that last year.

If they go by last years payout it's winner take all. Last year the winner got $10,000.00, this year $20,000.00.

They did one thing last year...which I hate, of all the people knocked out they drew one name to come back for the final table. I believe last year it was this 'second chance' winner that took home the $10,000.

I wish everyone who is going lots of luck! It'll be fun for sure..but I believe if you don't finish first you won't see any cash?

you'll get lots of 97.7 swag tho!
  • Casino Niagara already had the promotional signage when I went there to play in the WPT satellite, so I think they always planned to sell seats to this $20,000 tournament. Does 97.7 FM have a phone-in winner every single day?

They will again have a "second chance" draw for a seat at the final table. The ten finalists all win money, with second place winning $3,000.
  • This is going to be a real crap shoot. 3 rounds, top 3 from each round advance to a final table. plus the second chance lottery winner for a final table of 10 people.

1500 in chips for a starting blinds are 25/50 and double every 10 minutes. The action is going to be fast and furious.

  • Well not off to a good start. Travelling down the road to the highway the fan belt broke. Hey it is par for the course. I go through 2 per year without fail. I was suppose to be in the 11:00am session, call down to the falls and they will let me play in the 4:00pm session. I have a ride with a guy who comes to a lot of West Side Events so I am grateful for that. Going to try and sleep for 2 hours before he gets here.

  • I remember playing a tourney with a similar format. Good luck to all those playing. Remember don't be afraid to die to try and win it all.

Hopefully the cards are more co operative than your car Brent.
  • so how did the tournament go? anybody make the final table?
  • I heard there was some controversy about collusion when it came down to the last 4 of one of the sessions. This is only hearsay so feel free to correct me:
3 younger guys and 1 older gentlemen remain, buddy(1) is all in for very little in the SB, bb has 1900 to call into a pot of 50k+ and folds as to not eliminate his friend.

    THEN

It ends up that the older man is all in, with two callers who still have big stacks behind...they go "he is all in so we can flip our cards" and proceede to flip their cards to run the hand out and not play with the rest of their stacks...the casino allowed this.

I believe this is within the rules but it is unethical.
  • Once they flipped their cards the hads should have been mucked and the pot awarded the older gentlemen. This would have freaken fixed that up.

Exactly what should have happened. Apparently he caused quite a stir and ended up with a nice hotel room for the night.
  • I had asked what the blind/ante schedule would be, but they neglected to disclose that there were antes. After only 20 minutes, there were already antes and virtually every player was in the Red Zone! The cost per round at level 3 was 575 chips, so players that had the same 1,500 chips that we started with would have an M of less than 3!

There were at least four of us that play in the West Side events, but none of us got enough luck to make it to the final table. On the very first hand, the pot was over 1,000 with four players and I successfully bluffed at it. On the next hand I played, it was another big pot but I ended up splitting it with the chip leader so we hardly gained any chips. Despite the blinds going up every 10 minutes, there was a lot of wasted time like dealer change procedures, chipping up procedures, table change confusion, etc. The dealer in my new table kept getting confused with the simple task of collecting everybody's ante. It seemed like only a few hands had been played, but it was now level 4, with a CPR of 1,100. I went all-in, flopped a set of jacks, and had a 91% chance of winning the 4,300 pot but I got rivered. After I was eliminated, I looked for the other WSPC players, but it seemed that they were all out earlier and did not stay for the second chance draw or the cash games.

The only swag being given out was a T-shirt to the first player out of the table. The T-shirt said something like "I played in the 97.7 Bingo ;) Tournament and all I got was this lousy T-shirt." The sole lady in my table played the most hands and was the first to go out. By being the worst player, you get something while the other 220 players got absolutely nothing.

I decided to play $1/$2 NL to wait for the draw; when I didn't win the draw, I decided to keep playing then I would watch the later stage of the WPT CPO final table. Before 9 PM, one of the dealers mentioned that the WPT tournament had already ended so I decided to keep playing until just before the buffet closed. However, various fish kept entering the game so I kept playing instead. When one of the fish went all in, I lost the $350 pot on my bluff against her companion. When I couldn't spot any more fish left in the table, I could very well be the fish, :fish: so I finally decided to leave. I cashed out with over $600! :)
