December GBH CPT Tournament of Champions Sats

Hey folks,

I have just been advised by the regulators that we cannot do Satellites for the CPT Tournament of Champions in December.

The Wednesday and Thursday Mini-Tournaments are still going very strong and for the $100 entry fee the $1000 prize for the Wednesday Mimi-Tournament will cover the entry for the December Tournament while the $2000 prize for the Thursday Mini-Tournament will cover the entry plus the re-buy if needed.

This event is estimated to have a first prize of $250,000.00 and will have significant impact on the CPT standings and the CPT Canadian Championship event in the summer of 2007.

The Wednesday and Thursday Mini-Tournaments will be the closest thing to a Sat for the December T of C, there are typically 15 to 20 Mini-Tournaments each day and I would encourage the Sat players to use these events to good advantage.

Cheers,

Lee

  • Hello Lee what is the buy-in for the TOC in december and all the details for the tourney like blind structure and staring stacks. What is the number of seats will the tourney hold.

    Thanks, Cameron
  • Hey Cameron,

    The T of C entry is $1000.00 + $50.00

There are 2 re-buys of $500.00 permitted in the first hour and 1 $1000.00 add-on at the end of the first hour

The field is limited to 220 players

The event will be held over two days with 110 playing each day. The top 5 from each day will comprise the final table.

The blind structure will be posted on our web site and here on the Forum the first week of November.

I will keep everyone up to date here on the Forum as things happen.

    Cheers,

    Lee

Does that mean that only the final table gets paid? That's less than 5% of the field if it fills.
  • Hey Hobbes,

The top 10 from each day will be paid, top 5 each day go to the final table, bottom 5 from each day will receive the same amount in prize money. It really is the same formula we use now.

    Cheers,

  • Thanks for the info
  • What reason(s) did the regulators give for disallowing satellites for the CPT, while satellites for the WPT were approved?

Do the Mini-Tournaments have a fast strucure?

  • Hey Blondefish,

We are a Charity Casino, the WPT is being held in a Commercial Casino. Sats may only be run as multi-table events, we have neither the space nor available time to run a series of MTT events. The Mini-Tournaments blinds start at 1/2 and increase every 11 hands, the blinds are capped at 10/20, we typically run 15 or so games every Wednesday and Thursday. Hope I have answered your question.

    Cheers,

    Lee
  • Thanks to Lee for the information. How many chips does one get for the Mini Tournaments, and how long does the average tournament last?

  • Hey Blondefish,
The opening issue is 40 chips, the Mini-Tournaments typically last between
1½ to 2 hrs, depending if the players make a deal or play it out.

It be interesting to know how many hands are actually dealt within the 1.5-2 hour period. With the amount of starting chips, and blind increments, I can see a lot of pre-flop play in these tournaments.
  • Hey pokerJAH,

You would actually be surprised, don't forget the blinds go up after 11 hands have been played, you would be looking at 55 hands minimum until the blinds are capped, and then as many hands after at 10/20 blinds as it takes to finish. We typically get 40 - 45 hands per hour in a Tournament...the usual deal would involve 2 or 3 players so you can see how many hands would be played with or without a deal.

Good question you put, hope I have given you a reasonable answer

    Cheers,

    Lee
