  • It Was a Chemical mask, couple other people had surgical masks as well. Has gotten better with the smoke though. So many complaints the Health Dept. was in on Monday, threaten to shut them down. They fixed there ventilation system so you dont have to wave your hand to see the flop.
  • I was there yesterday and they have really fixed up the smoke problem. It's a lot cooler in there too now that they have some sort of ventilation system working. Showed up at 11:50 and waited in line until they opened. I managed to get a table right away and after a delay while everyone bought chips we were underway by 12:30. Played for 7 hours straight, missing only two hands for quick bathroom breaks. 4 of the players at my table were at my table the last time I was there. Came out 10+ big bets ahead... nothing spectacular but I'm happy with it.

I'd suggest showing up a few minutes before noon if you want to avoid the 3 hour wait for the 5-10 tables.
  • I hit up the CNE casino last night at 4:15. Less than 10 people on the list, so I got seated pretty quickly. The smoke was definitely better than it has been, but still unpleasant. Particularly the guy who sat to my right halfway through the night who held his cigarette in my face when he wasn't puffing and always blew the smoke into the dealer's face.

Anyways, I had a solid 5 1/2 hour session, losing about 18BB at the 5/10 tables. Not a great performance, but the cards were pretty cold. It didn't help that my AKs ran into KK with a king high flop and my own pocket kings were brought low by a rivered flush, or that any of my own draws didn't hit (and with 9 people seeing the flop for most of the night, you always had odds to chase your hand, as long as you were drawing to the nuts).

Still, I'm pretty sure I would have been in it with even slightly better cards. There were a few good players at the table, but enough easy to read players that it should have been profitable. It just didn't turn out that way. I'm not sure if I'm going to be back. Between the smoke and the necessity of hitting good cards, online play is still a bit more comfortable (and +EV).
  • Finally tried the CNE Holdem. Very different from Casino Rama, thats for sure. This was the first time I ever tried 5-10 (i am mostly a LOWER limti player), but decided to give it a shot. I showed up @ 1 and was seated @ 145 when they opened up a new table. I sat in Seat 11 so that I would be last to post and would see how players play by then. I folded every hand until BB. I found that the game was actually quite TIGHT. I was only there for 2.5 hours, and hands were chopped 3 times, with 3-4 players seeing the flop on occassions. Only 1 or 2 loose cannons, that were picking up good cards now and then.

Here are my big hands. Brought in for 150
on my first BB, pick up Q2o, flops comes Q29 (2 diamonds). I check and button is first to bet, and I raise to 10, so draws can't call, and everyone folded to button. Turn is a diamond (T), I bet thinking he will raise wih a flush, he calls. Turn is a J, i check, he bets, i call. He shows 99, yikes.

I get 45o on next hands on SB, 5 call, so i decide to see flop, I miss everything.

2 hands later, I get 77, and call hoping for trips, i et nothing and fold.

Next BB, I get crap and fold to missed flop
on SB i get A7o, I decide to call. Flop comes A3x (2 spades). I check, MP bets, I call, everyone else folds. Next cards is Js, I bet hoping he thinks I made a flush, he calls. River is a 3, so I check and he checks. He has A6, J plays, I was suprised I was ahead.

I then get a 24o on T5o on BB and SB, both ending up as nothing.

I then get one good hands. I pick up JJ in EP, and raise. I get 2 callers (SB and LP). Flop is T96. I bet out, both call. Turn is a 7, I check, they check. River is an 8, I bet out with J jihj straight and they both call hoping board wins, one shows AKo, and other mucks. I call it a day as my mom came in saying she wanted to go. I thought I could have done better if I waired longer and picked up some cards. In the end I lost $22 in 2.5 hours. I'll probabaly try Rama tomorrow, but the good think about the EX, is there rake is 5%!!!! That is dam good!
