Canadian poker open championships? Not the NAPC the CPO

Ok so there are 2 wpts tourneys goin on next month The CPO which final table plays on Oct 28th and the NAPC which plays on the 29th , the CPO main event entry fee is $2700 and the NAPC is $10,300 what im wondering is which one do you think will have more people at for the main event? And what is the payout structure for the CPO as oppose to the NAPC , thx ahead of time and hopefully get some opinions here.

  • 13CARDS posted some projections in another thread.  IMHO, the CPO will have more entries because of the lower buy-in.  If NAPC has 400 entries, the prize pool will be $4 million, with first place winning over $1 million. 8) If the CPO has 600 entries, the prize pool will be $1.5 million.
  • Ya thats what i figured there would be more but my buddy is arguing with me sayin NAPC will have more cuz of the popularity, but cheaper buy in means more ppl can afford it. Also why do they do 2 of these? like why not just the NAPC?
  • I would bet a lot of money that the WPT 10K event gets more players.

    1. Both of the events will be played at Fallsview, in the Grand Hall conference room. The Canadian Poker Open will play down to the final table on October 24th. Then the North American Poker Championship will take place and play down to the final table (during a 36 hour period, the WPT will set up their "stage" in the Avalon Ballroom). Then the final table of the NAPC will be played/filmed on October 29th. The following day, October 30th, the final table of the CPO will be played/filmed.

    2. The CPO will be capped at 300 players. This is for logistical reasons and will hopefully only apply to this year's event. In coming years, when both the CPO and NAPC will not be played back-to-back, a higher number of entrants will be permitted. At this time, there is "no cap" for the NAPC (however, there are logistical limits to what kind of numbers we can manage).

    3. The payout structure for the CPO and NAPC will be nearly identical, with the NAPC payouts being approx, 5X larger (due to the buy-in).

    A. See #2 above.

    B. For the NAPC to pay out $1 million for first place, there needs to be 302 entrants.

    C. Again, see #2 above.

The WPT and Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort have partnered to offer 2 WPT events each year for the next 5 years. This year, the CPO and NAPC will be played back-to-back. In coming years, the events will be spread out.
  • Wow !!!! awesome info 13cards really appreciate it. I guess it is worth tryin for the CPO too then, i thought there would be tons of people though thats all but 300 isnt bad at all.
