New Site Feedback

Please post anything that you see on the new site that might be missing or could be an issue. I don't care what it is, if it's on this site and it didn't transfer over I need to know about it so that we can either say YES or NO to it. Some house cleaning might happen from this move!

New test site address: https://flarum.main.nu for testing only. Feel free to play and post as the data here is only replicated test data. Email notifications are disableld so you wont get any emails from this system and that is expected! Also do me a favor add a like to this post if you have logged in to the new test site and everything looks okay for you and seems the features you need are still there!

Features:

Login - Yes - It will stay the same. I will add things like google and facebook logins later
Events Calendar - Yes - But it will work a bit different
Direct Messaging/Group Messaging - Yes ~~but existing data will not transfer over~~ * Update we can transfer this data over!!
Categories - Yes but they are called tags now
Attachments - Yes
Avatars - Yes
Dark/Lite Theme Support - Yes - Default site theme is selected based on your browser or device setting. Once logged in you can specify a default for your profile to use.

Would love other feed back if there is a feature on this forum and not on the new one. If I don't hear much I'll make plans to do the transfer to the new forum in the next few weeks

Okay I got exactly 1 piece feedback from someone about the new forum format and software. I will assume by everyone else's silence is that you don't have any opinions about the new platform.

I will be migrating the forum to the new platform over the holiday. I am not sure the exact day but I will give a heads up. The old site will still accessible using http://archive.pokerforum.ca if for some reason there was data that you still need that may have gotten missed. I will only be keeping this active for a short period of time IE 2-3 months then it will be going away. I will keep a backup of the old database just incase for issue that something very important got missed!

I'm not a fan of the red tbh, I keep thinking it's a banner with an error

This is most likely because there is no hero image at the top of the page yet. I agree it's a bold red to be all by itself. Problem I had was that I needed to get the data over first and will work on the looks after to add our old logo at the top etc..

This is Canadian red which is #D80621 but it is still really bold!

I don't mind the red theme, though the chip logo in the site thumbnail is blue and white.

moose I noticed this was off also moose some times it's really random. I'll have a look and see. To be honest it's kind of useless and I'd rather remove it

I would like some way of clearing all the notifications without having to click on them all individually.

If you don't use the website notifications you can just turn them off. I personally just use the email notifications To disable website notifications:

Click on your User Name
Click Settings
Click on the Web Bell Icon so that all the values are X

Next to that there is no way to acknowledge them all at once other then maybe marking the entire forum as read to get a fresh start?

Go to the homepage and click the check mark!

The new site doesn't keep me logged in very long. Seems like every time I return I am logged out. Is there a parameter you can change on the server? Or maybe the problem is on my end. Please advise.

Otherwise no issues with the new site as far as I can tell.

You can stay logged in forever if you click the "Remember Me" option when logging in.. Stupid name for it as this option normally means remember my username so I don't have to type it in again. But in this case it means never auto log me out. Let me know if that does not work!!

TricityAA Yeah we didn't have much choice in the matter. Only so many free forum software out there that is upto date

Not a fan of change either when you get used to something working a certain way.. Like learning to drive a different car.

Now DMs only accessible via notifications?

Used to be able to click [ where <drafts> is now writing icon /button left of notifications ]

Which would open inbox when signed in but now not sure how to access messaging/inbox.

Maybe message history was lost in the shuffle?

edited: okay I figured it out, click on username then submenu 'Private Discussions' (DMs) from there

thisORthat you can also from the homepage click on private messages on the left-hand menu and it will show you all your private messages AKA your inbox..

Numbered lists button wasn't working for me. When I clicked on the icon for it, it creates a "1." but when I hit enter to continue the list, it doesn't.

It looks like this is the default and they are working on improving it but no idea when!!
