I once made the mistake of not protecting my cards. Neighbouring player mucked their hand onto mine. Which grilled my play. After rivering a boat versus villain across the table who simultaneously likely made Broadway. First time at that particular poker room. So unsure who the regs were. Or who's who's.

Took it in stride. Lesson learned.

I should have known better; "protect your hand at all times".

Then again I may have been graciously saved if villain had made quads on the river.
Instead of the more oblivious straight. {perhaps only the actions of a poor sport; not angling?}
Once at the casino I had a guy "accidentally" say he had a full house at showdown in an attempt to try to get me to muck my hand without showing. I refused and waited for him to table his hand and he was like "oops, sorry I have trips actually". Guy next to me later told me this asshole tries that all the time against players he doesn't know.
That would piss me off. I get bluffing before showdown and saying what ever you want. But once it comes to show down its time for truth. game is over now. That is a dick move, i almost think I would call the floor.
Going to @trigs game and not winning a pot for 6 hours. Obviously Trigs game is rigged...lol

Not uncommon for 'casino' play. Being aware of angles from unknown players may use is helpful.

3 months later
Last month at a home game of buddies? down to 4 players and guy in BB motions chips to the center out of turn and then draws back to protect his BB from a raise, did it twice.
Other guys didnt catch it, THC LOL

That guy (perhaps after 1 warning) wouldn't be invited back to any game that the great tournament hosts on here host.
There will be a new rule run down at this guy's game from now on for sure, but sucks that guy's try that garbage.
Cheers
Is he the actual host? If he does that, what else (that your don't know about) is he doing? Personally I would stay away from a game like that. Plenty of good games to go to around here.
Maybe raking $$$ out of the prize pool as well?? Have you checked the math?
Not an angle, but there used to be an asshole at BCC that would say "I'm a raison" when the action was on him to get people to fold.

That is 100% an angle.... and that person should be spoken to. (No, I don't believe it's me everyone).

Agree. Definitely an angle.

Not sure exactly as stated this is an angle, wouldn't it only if he was saying it before action was on him?

I misread. Didn't realize action was on him. Does that mean he'd say this and people still to act would fold out of turn? Not sure how him joking about raising and then not raising would get others to fold otherwise.

As stated in the post originally he'd say it "to get people to fold". That's an angle.

Just to clarify, I picture this....

I'm in BB, people are making their decisions as they go around, gets to the late position, and I start word play like "Oh! Careful! I've been known to raise" or "I swear to god if you try and steal it I'm gonna shove" --> Fine

On me, people still in the pot (whether to act yet or have acted and may have to act again if I did raise), I say something insinuating raising, wait a beat, hoping that someone acts on auto-fold? That's an angle. If he claims "Lol, I meant like a dehydrated grape!" I give him one. I say, "Oh, I mean, lame... don't do it again". Any further fruit based jokes are going to be penalized, or I'm going to make any of his nonsense a nightmare.

I was referring to JohnnieH's situation as to not being an angle. Aren't you supposed to say you are raising when action is on you? lol, Is there any other choice?
