Whelp, my upgrade says it's downloaded and ready to install. Gonna back up drivers, create a recovery DVD set today.

Not sure whether to go ahead with this or not yet. Anyone else have any reviews?

I've been using it since it was released..

Aside from an uptick in installing updates (and therefore rebooting itself / losing all the porn I had open) it's fine.

Thanks Mark. Just started the backup process. Found some blank DVDs I haven't used in several years. Windows said roughly 360Gb would be backed up. Lol, that'd be a lot of DVDs. Thankfully my external drive had spare space.

Does this even make sense to do it this way? The external wouldn't even be a bootable drive I wouldn't think?

FYI, Like Mark I've been using the official release since the end of July and various "beta" versions since Feb'ish, and certainly no show stoppers for me, however some configurations have had issues that's why I suggested waiting a while if you are not tolerant of glitches or somewhat technically savy. If you are in a production environment this needs to be done in a controlled manner.

Oops. Well, I'm only on hour three of this process and it looks like it's 70% done! After this is done on the external drive, I might make a backup of just the system on a DVD as well then, just in case.

For those of you who haven't already updated to 10 and are going to, please make sure all mandatory updates for both 7 and 8.1 are done prior to doing the 10 upgrade. There have been 1 or 2 updates recently to resolve some issues with the upgrade.
