who said anything about walking...I hate waiting for valet and rather jump in a cab personally. Although that summer heat can be a bitch. Its great walking back to your hotel in 120 degree heat after a 12 cash game session :)

Well if you take two cabs a day plus your hotel/airport, aren't you ahead to rent?

If it was just me & a forumer, I would go with whatever that forumer wanted. I have no problem taking shuttles, monorails, buses or walking; or splitting with StinkyFingers for a car rental. I agree with moose that taking taxis everyday would be the worst option for me.

I didn't realize that my TD U$ VISA Card is like a gold card with a bunch of travel benefits and Auto Rental Collision / Loss Damage. Since my family is going with me for the first time ever to Vegas, we'll rent a car, hoping to go to most (if not all) of the following:

1) Grand Canyon SkyWalk (196 km)
2) Valley of Fire (89 km)
3) Dam Hoover (48 km)
4) Red Rock Canyon (27 km)
5) Area 51 or other attraction?

Red Rock Canyon is ok but Valley of Fire is 10x better. But even Valley of Fire will eat most of a day. I wouldn't drive to the Grand Canyon unless you are planning to include hiking or some other activity and are prepared to use up an entire day on it. Better to watch travelzoo for a helicopter deal which gets you to the Grand Canyon in under 30 min. The helo pads are generally out towards Henderson so you could combo the helo ride with Hoover Dam. Be aware that the full Hoover Dam tours sell out fast, so you have to be there early in the morning to get a tour. If you helo first then Hoover, the full tours will be likely sold out.

Read up on this before you commit - from what I understand it is worth it (+EV) to drive the extra distance and go to the "real" grand canyon, which is the "South Rim". Apparently the SkyWalk hangs over a shitty part of the canyon offering no real view and at a very shallow point of the canyon nothing like the real thing - and to top it off they charge you out the ass for it.

Also, check weather report before you go... We were so spoiled with the LV weather we didn't even think to check... We looked pretty silly standing in the cold rain in T-shirts, not to mention the fact that we couldn't see 10 feet into the canyon cause of the damn fog!

BTDT on the Grand Canyon South Rim a couple of times, including by airplane. So Skywalk is on the bucket list, along with Valley of Fire, High Roller, and getting drunk in a Las Vegas nightclub for the first time! :D

Just snagged a premium car through costcotravel.com dropping my rental car by $40.

Updated cost is $888.98, gotta be lucky right?

Is a typical premium car like a Nissan Altima? All the other times I went to the Las Vegas car rental, there were a lot of cars available, but when I arrived at 11 PM this time, there was a long line-up with very few cars available and we got a free upgrade to a 2014 Mustang convertible (> $75/day) for the same low price of $21/day.
