Hey BlondeFish - a couple of points...
1) The unlimited Re-entry is actually only in place for the first four levels so it's not quite as scary as you make it out to be. Generally there are only a few re-entries. Many fewer than in a rebuy satellite, and you're starting with a much deeper stack.
2) I actually don't disagree that the $10 rake is high on a $50 buy-in, but what you have to understand is that $10 per entry is actually the floor we can charge and still pay staff. If the buy-in were $100 the rake would be the exact same amount and it would look like a much better value.
The problem is that we want the range of satellite buy-in amounts to a) fit well with the price of the target tournament and b) give the opportunity for players who would normally never consider a $1.1K event to give it a try. That is controlled not by the % of rake but the total price of $60. The option is not to run these lower-price satellites at all, which is a less-optimal solution.
As a more experienced player who has played many big buy-in events in his poker career, these satellites might just not be for you. For a player with your background, the $110 satellites on March 23 and March 26th are a better option, and we know they're a much better value.
As far as the survivor event is concerned, we had mixed feedback about it last time. I thought it was great as well, and I know you and a few other players did as well. But we did get some feedback from people who didn't see the point and would prefer other formats. We're constantly taking that feedback and trying to put together a full schedule that will work as well as possible for as many players as possible.
