trigs;366380 wroteif you literally have read the rules and know nothing else, i'd suggest reading some basic poker books and playing the lowest possible stakes (maybe even play money) at least at first just to get your feet wet.
This is great advice. In the interests of familiarizing yourself with the basics, playing without risk is a good start.
When I first started playing I was terrified of setting up a real $ account online, so I bought the World Poker Tour PC game. Played it quite a bit. Started crushing it. Figured I was on top of the world and ready for real money on poker stars.....
