They have several options, including home phone, tv etc. I just use them for basic dsl. But they have cable and high(er) speed dsl as well. I dunno how much I use but I am a pretty heavy user. A one hour HD tv show dl in 20-30 min, which is fine enough for me. I dl 2-3 hours of tv shows a week and 2-3 HD movies as well. There are always multiple devices connected and the internet is probably being used a min of 18 h per day. The basic is fine for me and still comes with unlimited dl. It is restricted to 5.5 mbps during the day and overnight is 11 mbps. I usually pick some movies to dl before going to bed and they are all ready to go in the morning. $39.95/month. The first year is $24.95. If anyone wants a referral LMK.

For TV I use Shaw Direct satellite. It cost me $60.75 per month until I added a second unit and now its $74.91. They usually run a Christmas special where the HDPVR unit is $199 but it comes with free install and $199 in an account credit so ie. it's free. My sister in law went with this two years ago and the guy actually showed up on Super Bowl Sunday and installed it = HERO.

I should really get around to consolidating my phone/TV/internet through acanac, which would knock quite a few bucks off my monthly costs.

However my parents do use the FIBE and they love it. I think it is a great setup if you have a lot of TVs. Dunno why two people in a house need 3 TVs but hard to tell old people anything. One of the most convenient features is the ability to access anything on the PVR on any TV.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned DISH IKS. Not a perfect solution but extremely good value for the money. Google is your friend.

There is no limit on our unlimited bandwidth. Speed depends on where you live. Ancaster is a funny area and doesn't have fibre in some areas yet. 5mbps is not going to cut it for you. The 20GB limit is what comes with the 5mbps but you can upgrade to 95GB or unlimited.

I have TekSavvy. Most plans are 300GB down/mo, upload not counted, and unlimited between 2am and 8am. All plans have an unlimited option as well, which is indeed unlimited. Speeds as advertised, consistently.

As a bonus, they'll stand up for your privacy!

Yeah, liking teksavvy a lot. When you say "upload not counted" does that mean you are paying for uploading, or that uploading does not count towards the 300 Gb? I am guessing the latter.

After getting my avr back yesterday from Denon after a two month wait to get the HDMI module replaced, I will hopefully be able to watch something on my TV again. I don't watch anything on TV unless it's at 720p minimum with full digital sound.

I've always streamed media from my pc to the home theater setup via a PS3. However, the PS3 may also be toast at this point.

Strongly considering getting a WD TV Live as a replacement as I have no interest in replacing the PS3 with another game console. I don't play games on it anyways, so why spend $400 (or whatever the final bidding price was in the auction that was going on the other day).

Anyone have any experience with the WD TV Live? I think I remember Moose saying he had one. Considered the Live Hub, but I don't need the extra hard drive space it offers.

Can't wait to dig in to the electrical spaghetti and get everything reconnected.

Hi definition 1080p movies are about 10 gigs each. Watch just one a day and that's 300 gigs a month.

Ya, it doesn't take much...

I clear 250 gigs a month with regularity.. less so with streaming now, but when I get a movie in HD, it's usually upwards of 10 gigs. Even Netflix (which you can set to low/med/high definition) can clock in around 5 gigs / movie. Add into that websurfing, other people's phones and devices coming and using it, and chronic pornography, it adds up.

After my pay per view fiasco Sunday night, After asking bell for refund I started asking about bell fibe and wireless receivers, unfortunately with the installation fees and receiver fees it does not look like it would make sense to change tv service and the internet plan I need is even more expensive than shitty rogers!:o

Ive been using a wdtv for a couple years now, I swear by it, love it, I d/l lots of movies/tv shows. Plays just about any video format there is, and has the usual extras, (you tube, Netflix, spotify, etc) there are also ways to get American Netflix which adds a bit of programming and selection.

Been using my WDTV live for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. Had a bit of trouble at the beginning with file sharing, but once I got that figured out it's been great. For the price, there's nothing else I'd go with.
