GTA Poker;359469 wroteit's a bit misleading when you reference ON events with low rake that are either electronic tables or 4 table tournaments
No, Ontario players like Gottaget, The_Game, Flopped_Nuts, Monoxide, Wetts1012, crazykoby, SteveKerr, pokerJAH, me, etc. may want to maximize our ROI so it would make sense to save some of our limited tournament bankroll for some local low-rake and +EV tournaments instead of just travelling to Quebec/BC and coming back without enough money left to play any more poker. If somebody cannot afford a buy-in of at least
$580 (WSOP-C), it would make more sense to play a local $285+$15 event with 5% rake than to travel to play a $220-$365 event with rake up to 4 times higher! :o It was playing in these "small" but +EV tournaments that will enable me to play in a WSOP-C $1,125/$1,675 event and check it off my bucket list.
I will gladly reference other low-rake tournaments that you tell me about, but I have not yet found a single tournament in Quebec with rake < 10%! :'( All of the live tournaments that I have cashed in this summer have had a rake of <= 9%.
it's nice to play larger fields now and then...
That's why us Ontarians need to have some cashes in order to be bankrolled for the Fallsview Poker Classic $1K, $2.5K and/or $5K events in February 2014. Fallsview Casino may not like having fallen behind Playground and River Rock, so it may finally have multiple Day 1s for the $1K to try to beat the all-time record in Canada of 1,173 entries.
