Do you know of any other family-friendly accommodations near the Lac-Leamy casino? Just like in Hawaii, my family would prefer staying in a two-bedroom condo/apartment if possible.
As for cash game alternatives for those who don't like getting raped $11-
$15/hand,
Rideau Carleton Raceway in Ottawa has
$5 max rake! :o
Not much in Gatineau, but honestly, the way that the area is set up, the casino is super close to downtown Ottawa. One of the bridges to Gatineau connects right to downtown Ottawa, where you have the market (great food, and beaver tails, yum), then there's Parliament, the museums (civilization and war), the Rideau Centre, the National Arts Centre, all sorts of stuff.
As for Rideau-Carleton, remember it's WAY out in like Greely, which is a good drive from the core of the city. The money on the weekends in Gatineau is so soft that my winrate there was still pretty solid, despite less hands per hour, a lower skill level and the elevated rake. If you're playing the circuit events on the weekend, it's probably worth checking the tables and finding the tables with the local Ottawa businessmen, pay the higher rake and reel in the fish :p
