You can't possibly make an informed decision from 1 tournament. Chip avg really only applies to me during the mid stages, ie don't want to fall much below 1/2 chip avg. Later, every decision becomes situational.
As for books, Harringtons 3 tournament volumes are good. I know they are 3-4 years old but read them, digest them and adapt the thoughts and processes to your style. There is no "perfect" book or "way" to play. No matter what everyone says, running good is imperative to positive results. Without that even "perfect" play won't help.
