EcoCard.com ... you can fund it from your bank account then its basically like neteller as far as moving money around, I believe more sportsbooks and poker sites will be using them. And I doubt they really care about the US legislation and they have been around for quite a while.

I think Insta debit or Moneybookers is going to end up being the choice. Neteller going is gonna hurt large for most sites. I see neteller being the next Bre-X. Here today and gone tomorrow.

There is some kind of big piece missing from this puzzle that we do not know yet, and hopefully eventually we will. I think it is reasonable to assume that Canada will not remain forever in the unregulated situation it is now. It will either go the against the law route (though more so to protect it's own gaming interests) or the British style legalized route.

That may be a bit in the future, eventually this industry will reach some sort of balance world wide that makes sense, but until then we still have to deal with the ups and downs as they happen, of which losing neteller and other e-wallets is certainly a "down" for the time being.

I think it is way too premature to make random dire predictions about Neteller or other companies. Some will get crushed like Napster was while others will eventually carve a legal niche into the market that works for all involved (like Itunes in a way).

Until then some prudence mixed with common sense are one's best tools.

A lot of people are running around with their heads cut off or overreacting and acting impulsively. Instead perhaps follow these basic steps.

- Contact the poker rooms you do your most business with and ask them questions about their plans for Canada.

I play mainly on the Cryptologic network and Pokerstars and both have zero intention of cutting off Canadians as there is no reason to do so. Both have suggestions as to alternative methods of deposit and withdraw and no doubt they will work to develop more efficient ones as well. I am sure other rooms would offer similar advice.

- Get your neteller/bankroll affairs in order.

One of my friend's just does teh casino bonus whoring and has accumulated nearly 10,000 in his various accounts and Neteller which is way more then he needs. He is wisely removing a large chunk of that and leaving what he needs in the various rooms to do what he does.

Poker players can certainly do the same thing. Figure out what you need to properly bankroll the games you play in the various rooms you play and ensure you have that balance before Neteller shuts off the switch. Pretty much all sites will mail Canadians checks (some may convert it, most will not) and with no evil legistlation here they will continue to do so.

If you do more the bonus whoring style of play which requires lots of little withdraws and deposits then expect that to become more difficult for the near term and instead of racing off to every other e-wallet in a panic do your homework and look at the costs affiliated with them all. Some may not be worth all of the extra costs, and you may have to drop some of the in and out transfers of funds for a while until the supply/demand of the market creates the opportunity for replacement e-wallets to emerge.

- Clean out the Neteller account. Cash it out, and do not panic that the money will be gone. The situation with the Americans is completely different then Canada, and for the near future at least Neteller has no plans to abandon it's business worldwide (Turkey excepted :P) so realistically there will likely not be any difficulty getting ones funds back.

If you like leave a little extra in Pokerstars or something while waiting for some new e-wallets to emerge.

And finally one may need to adapat how one plays a bit to match the changes in the e-wallet industry for the short term. That means fewer transactions (as they will likely come witha greater cost) and withdraws by a slower means (ie: poker room checks). However, the market is usually good at recognizing these changes and do not be surprised if bonuses become more play based then deposit based anyways (much like Party with their Party points based bonuses that required no deposit lately).

WTF? It's been a while since I've done anything on Party Poker but as per Monteroy's sound advice I am emptying all the accounts I no longer use regularly. Anyways - no Neteller on Party at all. So I guess my money stays there for now.

$500 limit on withdrawals from Supreme without having to make a deposit first so hopefuly the $278 I won in the freerolls (with $60-2nd from tonight's freeroll) will hit my Neteller soon. Thank you Supreme.

There is a movement among sportsbook players to push to get this accepted as the new "neteller". I'm certainly going to check it out.

That may still have to be proven, but that company is finished as any kind of entity in the on line world. The number 1, 2 and 4 users of neteller are now gone, how far can the company be? A year ago it was the *STAR* of the on line world. It will now be the chump.

BTW last year US, Canada, UK and Turkey were the top 4 in neteller users.

Gotta love good old "Idonesian Gold" LOL.. I made a ton of money off of Bre-X...This doesn't seem to be the case here though!

I got one of the Party $25 offers the other day, needless to say I could not deposit any extra funds as Neteller is no longer an option there (was going to so I could multitable to clear the bonus). It looked like a sweet deal $25 USD for only 75 Party Points....however they have totally revamped how they do points. Now at the micro limits you need to rake 20 hands to get a point? Yikes.

Anyways, to my point.....I got the $25 up to $50 and then thought wtf I'll try an EFT straight to my chequing account. Went off without a hitch, mind you it did cost me $1? The min EFT on Party is $10 so I moved $25 to my account and left the other $25 (which was still restricted as I have not cleared the bonus yet!) online to play with.

I think EFT's may be an acceptable solution in the future and I'm thinking of opening another chequing account just for that purpose?

For now I'm just going to leave my bankroll on-line in the sites I play most and figure it all out when the dust settles.

Hobbes sorry for the late reply.. missed this thread.. right now I know that Mansion and USDBet which are sportsbooks with poker sites take EcoCard.

Pinnacle will be opening a poker site in the very near future and will have it. Other than that I am not sure, but I do know that there is a push to have sites add them. But as with everything else who knows what will happen, these guys are located in Latvia I believe and their CSD isn't the greatest so if they plan on taking on thousands of new customers they will have to adapt very quickly.

The biggest thing most of the alternatives are missing is the EFT to/from the bank accounts which neteller did. An international wire transfer to moneybookers is $30 US (if you transfer us funds). Of course FED EX ing a cheque or money order costs about $25 depending on where it's going. The ease and convenience of neteller will be sadly missed.

What about the echeck function in Pokerstars (and others I assume)? It says there are no fees.. If you set up a separate checking account just for poker, wouldn't it be a solution? I'm not concerned about depositing, just a function for moving money between sites and "occasional" withdrawals. See link below.

citadel currently does not allow canadian transactions... I can tell you that I saw that yesterday when I signed up...
