Sorry guys for some reason my hosting company keeps changing our IP address and the mail server is set to only allow email forum this servers IP address. For some reason the forum software barfs if it cannot send an email. I have talked to the devs about it and they don't care, it's doing what it is supposed to do. So it causes this issue of multi posts
With that said wanted to reply to a few things
waltsfriend I think the situation is a good chance to talk about the rule - in case anyone from the game ever plays in a more formal setting. You could discuss why you think the rule exists or even a more philosophical discussion of why rules should be applied consistently in all situations.
Great point Sandy, this is exactly why I said the discussion was not "stupid". Lots of us know there is a rule but not many know why or have ever even thought it through. I know at my games I have said "Probably does not matter" but your or @kwmatt will speak up (in a nice manor) and explain the logic behind the rule which help me tremendously when understanding how to apply a rule in the future. That way I can also explain it to others in future games when someone else says "it doesn't matter"
I get the argument that unless its high stakes or professional poker, "who cares" but at the same time it just easier to run a game when everyone knows the rules and what to expect
Bfillmaff I think we can find agreement that as a general rule you do have to lean towards holding to "the rules"... out of game integrity alone, but also for the reason you mention. Also I wouldn't at all lump you in as a stickler..
this comment also, agree!!
Bfillmaff So I'm still going with table feel, and if anyone did speak up....wouldn't let it continue.
Problem with this is, this was my thought process and this is how I started my game, but it also puts people in very awkward positions to be forced to speak up when in the middle of a game the entire table decides to change the rules. IE "Can buy in for half the big stack?" The big stack is sitting there going "frick, this was not the rule before the game" BUT I do think it's a good idea to pin the decision till after the game for a vote so that for the next game this rule can change, that way everyone knows the rules before they decide to come to the game.
EdtheTed There is a rule about requiring a player to be sitting at the table when the cards are dealt. And I think it was recently changed to "you have to be sitting at your seat before the LAST card is dealt."
Yeah agree also with this no reason to be a stickler about this.
Question for everyone, What about if the cards are dealt to someone that is not there in a cash came and it changes the cards you get because they are not dealt in? Again im pretty easy on this but it does change what cards you would get so re-deal or just muck their cards when it comes around?
