The US has always been less safe than Canada in general, way before Trump. No argument there. No fair comparing the Vegas strip to Barton street. Hardly fair. I think most peoples concerns are hassle at the border and Trumps insulting remarks about Canada, those for sure are mine. No issue with the "normal" US people, they are stuck with "leadership" just like we are. Some of my bast friends from my IBM days are in the US including some relatives, both Republicans and Democrats. No sovereign citizens that I know of though.. 😉

Above was the original topic, you, Andrew, changed it to an Canada vs USA thread, quit doing that. I respect you and love you man but you have changed, not sure what happened or why. My second quote shows my feelings on the subject. My feelings towards the rank and file Americans is the same. I am not afraid of going there as I suspect is most everyone's feeling here but, like most, I am insulted by Trumps rhetoric. I'm pretty sure if an election was held today in the USA the result might be significantly different. Small sample size, and I have asked, but 3 US friends of mine who voted Repub regret it now. All voiced embarrassment of Trumps treatment of friends and allies. All however are what you would likely call centrist as they are part of the minority who switch from time to time. Seems they voted the way they did because of a combination of concern for Biden's health and how it was a last minute switch from Biden to Harris. Knowing one of them real well I also suspect an anti female bent.

Dude I lived in Hamilton for 20+ years and defended against the shithole label right up until it actually became one. Correct that was not at you, the Hammer is just an easy poster child for Ontario’s sad decline in general. I felt safer on the strip, than literally my last visit to Hamilton. Which was like, kind of the point!

As I have already stated, the vast majority of us Canadians are not anti American, just anti Trump as I suspect an increasing number of Americans are. I never knew you were born in the good ol US of A, so perhaps I understand some of your feelings. In any case Andrew, I hope we haven't permanently damaged our relationship because I value friendships even with disagreements. You know Moose is a US citizen, dual I believe, as well?

Kinda similar to "The True North strong and free!" I can't really agree with IRS hating as I have no dealings, but equally dislike our taxation system. I can't emphasize enough for my love of Americans in general and the the US as a country, it's just the current leadership I have no love for, as I think is the same for most of us. Have a great weekend Andrew, weather looks good here, my grandson just made the cut to his next years rep team in Brampton no less, why, I have no idea. Not my choice. Politics in hockey is still rampant 60 years later.
