newbie poker experience: update
so i woke up this morning, lost some money at the .5/1 and 25 NL ring tables, then tried to change my luck by not thinking about poker for a while until the newbie $1 tournament, which was more up my alley.
i guess its a non-money player thing but im a lot more comfortable playing without the $ signs in front of my chip count.
anyway, i went out for a little tennis, and got home just in time for the tourny. started slow. very slow. began with 1000 chips but slowly aided by blinds and weak cards, i made it down to about 400 i think just before the first hour mark.

...giving me the nut flush. then from there i just laid low with my chips, got up to about 6000/7000ish and stayed around there until past the second hour i think, which is when i was moved to the 1st table with the chip leader
at that point, there were probably about 130 or so ppl left in the tourny and i was itching to get into the money, even though most of it was just change. anyway, to make a long story short, despite my generally solid play i got really confused by a board, and made a stupid call with '3 pair' and the blinds (600+300) slowly took care of me.
the end of my tourny was interesting though, as i was just sort of holding out for the money at the end with 908 chips. with about 5 people to go, the blinds had just passed me and i wouldve been able wait out another round of blinds..with 8 chips left, but a couple people KO-ed really quickly and i still had my 908. but that didnt last very long and i was soon gone.
so anyway, i was pretty happy with my result - 46/420. not a bad first MTT at all.
and later at my home game - which ended just now, i picked up second place, with my A9 two-pair being beaten out by three eights after going all-in. so it has been a pretty decent day in terms of poker today.
i havent decided whether to play tomorrows $1 tourny but im definitely playing pretty solidly and looking forward to the freeroll. i played about 7 hours of tournament poker today. im tired.
