Woodbine Poker Room

Has anyone heard any updates from employees or anything regarding details for this new room?

I'm in another group and someone did post news about a 10 table soft opening Aug 11 @ Noon. Attached a photo too they took of where the room will be.

Kudos to anyone who actually chooses to play Poker at The Great Canadian Casino at Woodbine. You must be the most tolerant, patient degenerates on the planet. Legit. I'm aware you don't have many or any options which is the source of this problem.
I was on a recent layover and headed over to play some cards. Bought into the 2/5 game for $400. I played for 3 hours..
When I very quickly clued in to how much the rake was, I was shocked. But nothing else to do.... To then find out that the $20 max rake was also in play for the 1/3 game I nearly choked on my food, that I couldn't order or eat near the table....... At least there was free beverages...... Nope.. A loyalty program...... Def not. Service of any kind ......... Zero.
I then set my timer for an hour so I could see for my own entertainment how much rake was being taking..
26 hands dealt. Rake was easy to count as it sits right on the table for most of the game.
14 hands were maxed at $20.
I mean at this rake you would assume there would only be 1 to 2 tables of Southern Ontario's wealthiest citizens playing.... Nope. 18 full tables going. Eight. Teen. ONE. EIGHT.
$488 was taken in the 60 mins I had the timer on. Four Hundred and Eighty Eight Dollars. $8.13 / minute. 8 players for most of the time while I was there. $1/Minute. $60/hour per player. Plus bad beat.....
The topic on the amount was very much a hot topic with the local players at the table and even the dealers saying how ridiculous it was. Others would be like well it's our only option and we have to gamble. Couple others were like it's why I only come once a week instead of 3/4 kind of thing.
Anyway it must be the highest take in the world for low stakes cash. Christ, with that many tables going on a Wednesday PM, I'd raise it to $25-30!! Your customers are there supporting your business, they clearly like your value prop ( of which there is none).
Folks, there's an airport 6 mins away, save the rake your paying, and get on a flight!!!!
    Just. Wow.
Again, kudos to anyone who plays those games regularly...

  • That was posted in my Facebook group & it's the most popular post this week. Pickering Casino also has $20 rake, with 5 tables running on its opening day on January 29.

I've been taking the advice in the last paragraph of waiting to travel to play cash games. I would never play a single hand of a $20 raked game, & just play in the $5 max rake games at Milly In Philly & Las Vegas.
