  • Short Deck Ante

The game is played like standard NLHE with a couple exceptions..

    1. The cards two through five are removed from the deck. This makes Flushes much more rare.

    2. Aces wrap around, so the lowest straight is A-6-7-8-9

    3. For betting, each player post an Ante, while the button posts 2 X the Ante (eg. At the 100 level, everyone posts 100, except for the button that posts 200). Pre-flop betting beings to the left of the button, who can fold, call, or raise as normal.

    4. While 3 of a kind is statistically a slight favorite over a straight, I've read lots that say keeping a straight above 3 of a kind makes for a much better games. That makes the hand ranks as follows..

    Royal Flush
    Straight Flush
    4 of a Kind
    Flush
    Full House
    Straight
    3 of a Kind
    2 Pair
    1 Pair
    High Card

    5. The blinds will follow a similar progression as our normal game. I've heard that there is a ton more action, so I'm considering adding a more to the starting stacks.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • I'm in if it is raining Wed night.
  • I'll need the address.
  • Did you decide to add to the starting stack. I don't know the game but it seems like lots of chips could be in play fairly quickly.
  • WSOP only gives out half your chips. The other half is a Lammer that does not play so you get a reentry.
  • I think an approach will be good. If the levels are 25, 50, 75, then on level 3 there's already 675 on the table before anything is put in the pot. I like the idea of a lammer for 5k for a re-entry, as I think this will be a fast moving tournament.

Unless anyone objects, we'll be doing that. :)
  • Sounds good to me.

Rob please add a plus 1 to me.

    Sam would like to play.
  • Won't be attending, girlfriend had some medical issue pop up so gotta take care of that. Good luck, should be fun
  • cinnINmon challenge accepted!
  • Sorry to do this, but I can't get out of babysitting the little ones tonight.
  • Great to see everyone last night.

    Fun times as usual.
