Casino Niagara Long Weekend Trip Report

Went to CN for my usual long weekend Friday game. It was fairly busy but because I called in 60 minutes prior to arrival, I didn't have to wait to get on a table, as they just opened a new one at 8pm. I was seated with mostly recreational players that included 3 women from a free poker bar league.
The table played very tight for most of the evening and I hovered around starting stack or just above for a long time. I got up to $400 by about 2am by hitting a set against top pair, top kicker who couldn't find a fold.
At about 3am, the table turned over some players and I went on a heater. The biggest hand of the night came when I had 9s-7s in the BB and called a $10, UTG raise after it getting called by 5 other players pre-flop. Flop came 6c-8d-Kh, I check, UTG bets $30, one caller and I call, now there is $140 in the pot, I have both players covered. Turn is the 5s, yahtzee - I check, UTG goes all in for his remaining $60, the other player does her best acting job and finally shoves all in for her remaining $100 and I call, flipping over the nuts. UTG has A-K and the other player has 4-7os for a lower straight. River is a meaningless 7 and I scoop the pot.

Ended Friday night at 5:00am up $700

Played again on Saturday night from 9:00pm to 5:00am and was up $400 - I posted a hand from this night in the "analyze my hand" section.

Went to Niagara to play golf on Sunday but just had to stop in to play some more poker before heading home. The Bad beat jackpot was at $40k today and was won at about 12:30am. Quad 7s lost to a straight flush and both got their hands made on the river. It was nice to see the table was mostly regs.

I left after this hand, as I was really tired and felt like I was not going to play well for much longer. Pre flop raise was $10 and I call in the SB with Kc-Jc, having $190 behind. Flop comes Ac-Qc-9s, there is $50 in the pot with the UTG+1 raiser having $150 behind, it checks around on the flop and the turn is the Ts - I lead out $15 and the original raiser 3 bets me to $45. Everyone else folds.

I am thinking that he probably has top two, but checking the flop would have been dangerous. He may have a set of Tens. But two pair seems more likely. He has $100 behind and I have him covered. I decide to ship it, 'cause I don't think he will fold another $100 at this point.

He calls and we both have K-J for the straight but of course, I have the club flush re-draw, freeroll, which I hit when a 7c falls on the river and gives me $425 in chips. That hand paid for my golf, dinner and gas plus a little extra for the day.

Memorial Day is next weekend. Hopefully there will be tons of Americans coming over for a good time and willing to donate.

On Saturday, I was the 3rd largest stack at the Table. When I sat down, a woman had $1500 in front of her. She had been playing since noon and I sat down at 9:00pm. Then, the guy to my left, ended up at $1500 himself after playing 12 hours.
  • Wish I could go on runs like that...maybe I need to get out more.
  • That woman started at the table I was at but switched after a few hours. She was up about a grand and she was playing very well. She even took 150 from me with a very sly over bet on the turn one hand.

Raised to $7 preflop with 4-5 callers. Flop comes 229. She leads out a standard bet and only I call. Turn comes Q and a second club. She leads out a bet over the pot size. I didn't think she was protecting against the flush draw because it is unlikely that would be the reason I stuck around to see the turn. So I called. River comes A (I had A 9) and she makes another big bet. I went with my original read that she was betting too big for the 2 and was wrong. Hook line and sinker. Not my proudest moment.

After she left I climbed back up and left +620 after 7 hours.
