Yup, this will be the best casino in B.C.

• Do you know if the new Richmond Casino will host NL tournaments ?
• They say they might consider tournaments. NL or Limit is unknown. They had a tournament a few years back and I believe it was NL. We will soonf ind out! :D
• I cant wait to check the place out, Great Canadian always has such long waitlist unless you get there before 6pm.

It's 7pm at Richmond. And you can always put your name on for the next day...

But the new casion will have 20 tables and 24/7 so I am sure the only thing players will be waiting on, are the dealers.
• Cant wait! June 24th! 20 24/7 Poker tables!!!
• Just the casino will be open initially. The hotel, pub and showroom will still be under construction for a while... sometime this fall/winter for the hotel and the showroom (about 1500 seats or so) won't be completed until next year. They're building a whole complex out that way with a marina as well... should be interesting.

Good thing I work at the airport... only 10 minutes away. See you there...
• *bump*

Anyone played here yet? Im interestedi n finding out when they're going to be holding tournies but havent seen the info online anywhere
• yeah Ive been there the past 3 nights.
It was alright. Very crowded, so many idiots there, lots of ugly girls, lots of kids there. But then, there were some hot ones too :)

It is bigger than some of the smaller casinos in Vegas. The crappy part is waiting for tables. My friend and I just played while people were on holds.

I hope the hype dies down and the idiots lose their money and stop going. Poker should be fun, although the first 2 weeks will consist of idiots at the table after watching WPT thinking they can win the big one.

Poker room opens up on the 8th and will have a tournament that day. No one really knows the details though.
• Casino is now open.

Poker room opens July 8. Great room. Isolated from the gaming floor. Twenty tables. Fourteen plasma screens. Its own bar. Wow. Probably the nicest room in North America.
• I cant wait for it to open, sounds like its gonna be a pretty good place. Im gonna check it out as soon as the poker room is open.
• And they will have the buffet upstairs with the patio aswell.
Dave, will you be comming to the tournaments in Richmond? I would really like to meet you!

yummy buffet:D

i think i'm hungry:spade:
• I am sure that I will get there eventually. I am not clear when tournament will start in BC but I am sure it is not far away.
• well, the poker room opens at some point today, I'll probalby head there tomorrow night or saturday sometime. Anyone else going this weekend?
• Very nice and big. But disorganized. I feel bad for those who are not regulars because the pit bosses were giving seats to whoever they knew. Lucky me, not for average joe :(

Well, im gonna be there all next saturday playing, hopefully i'll be able to get into a decent game without too much of a wait
• I checked it out on Friday night. Very crowded - the waiting list was at least 2 hours long.

I noticed that Omaha is offered but it looked like it was Omaha High Only which seems strange since Omaha Hi/Lo is by far the more popular version.

I phoned on saturday to see what they were running because i was considering going. It is Omaha Hi only.. They said they might offer hilo at a later time.

• What limits were they offering? I haven't dropped in yet... waiting for a bit of the hoopla to die down a bit.

And I'm another Lower Mainland boy, you can either hit me up thru here or at my email... csummers@nostinkin'spam.shaw.ca (take out the nostinkin'spam bit)...

• when i called, for holdem they were offering 2-4, 4-8, 6-12, and i think they might have said 10-20 but im not sure, they also had a No Limit table with a capped buy in of $200 and blinds of $3 and $6
• Anyone know what limits they spread for Stud and Omaha?
• They also have $15-30, $20-$40 and $40-80 depending on enough players.
• i spent about 25 hours there thurs-sun nights, playing mostly at the NL tables...

they spread 2-4, 4-8, 8-16, 20-40 and 30-60 HE, with, i believe 4-8 omaha...and i think 2-4-8 seven card stud (but dont quote me on the last two)....plus, of course, 3-6 NL HE with a 100-200 buy-in

as for my impressions of the place....good and bad...

the place always has lots of people....so there are always full tables of most of the limits, which is great for table/limit selection......the waiting isn't as bad now as it was on day #1...but my advice, if you wanna sit quicker, is just stand around, somewhat close to the desk...so its really obvious you're waiting, and they might just ask you if you wanna play after a few minutes....the computer system becomes full of names of people who aren't around, and they have had lots of no-shows, so just make yourself visible

the biggest problem with the place is probably the dealers...they have some good ones, but the problem lies in the fact that all the dealers switch to different games constantly...so they sometimes don't know the rules as well as they should......this becomes especially apparent at the no limit tables, when some dealers aren't 100% sure about no limit betting rules (ie. you cant reraise to $50 after a $30 bet, it has to be at least double the previous bet)....there have even been a few instances where the dealer didn't notice that someone tried to bring more than $200 to the table....also, some house rules don't seem to be known that well dealer to dealer..

oh and the food isn't all that great either :P

on the plus side, it is spacious and has a nice atmosphere...but i really think that, given a bit of time and experience, the river rock will become a really great place to play poker...it is, after all, only their first week :P
• Yeah the dealers aren't too sure about the rules. But of course, most of them are GCC employees previously. The rules have changed at RiverRock from most of the other casinos. Such as how you must post even behind the button. If you are forced to move, you do not have to post and etc.
• I think management anticipated some "growing pains." They are aware -- and were prior to opening -- of the inexperience of some of the dealers. They are working to improve things, but, like players, there is no substitute for experience.
• What's with the huge blinds in the $200 NL game? It seems pretty ridiculous to cap the buyin at 33 big blinds.
